Hi, I'm running 6.10.58 on a Windows 7 64bit i7 setup but I'm getting no downloads.
I get the following error messages for all projects/tasks: [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/cep2.qcaux_v2.zip World Community Grid Backing off 2 hr 21 min 11 sec on download of cep2.qcaux_v2.zip [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/cep2.1_Picture1.tga World Community Grid Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of cep2.1_Picture1.tga World Community Grid Fetching scheduler list World Community Grid Master file download succeeded [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/cep2.qcaux_v2.zip World Community Grid Backing off 2 hr 37 min 33 sec on download of cep2.qcaux_v2.zip [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/cep2.qcaux_v2.zip I think this setup ran correctly once early in June before I started getting these errors. I have tried other BOINC versions (6.12.26, 6,12.33, 6.10.60) with even less success. I've cleaned disk, registry and rebooted the router and I'm now out of ideas. Any suggestions? Phil |

Hi,
Not able to create the .tga picture file suggests a lack of something... space on disk, rights/permissions to install maybe. Regrettably you've erased everything so cant ask you to post the startup log of BOINC, first 30-40 lines until work is requested. It's stored in the stdoutdae.txt file maybe still hiding in the disposal bin. With that we can see your setup and configuration. Let us know --//-- |

Addendum: Did a quick search on our forums and found only 2 previous reports from back in 2009. No resolution, but it smells like rights or obstruction.
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...=0&sort=1&rows=20 I'll have a look over at some other Wikis/Forums in the meantime... it's a very rare issue but if we can solve it now with a clear cause we'll be able to add it to our Start Here (not so often) FAQs :D --//-- edit: Specifically need info: What client version and source (WCG or Berkeley): What OS (Vista/W7 is suspected) Was installed how/where? (c:\program files\BOINC c:\program files x86\BOINC or c:\ProgramData\BOINC All that info is collated in the stdoutdae.txt file or shown in active client message log view if you don't know. This sounds like a security issue. File write access is being denied possibly due to AV/Firewall or just using a non admin account during setup (adding project).
Are you logged on as an administrator and during the installation did you allow all users to control Boinc? What overkill security software are you using? Did you set the Firewall exceptions for Boinc? |

I'm running McAfee AV and firewall. I've just tried running it as Administrator (firewall back on) and it looks as though its working OK! Thanks! |

18/06/2011 10:41:50 Running under account Philip
This says that you've installed as user rather than installing as admin with the Protected Application Execution [PAE] selected during the install. To get that feature, uninstall and reinstall. You may have to boot to make the limited rights account active such as "boinc_manager". This also will ensure that BOINC loads before you sign in and starts and keeps crunching when logged out. And yes, FW/AV were mentioned as obstructing factors in the provided links. Recommended is to exclude C:\ProgramData\BOINC from AV scanning. With a PAE install the client is maximum sandboxed [though the GPU part of crunching wont work then all through latest versions... not presently needed when only contributing at WCG] --//-- |

And yes, FW/AV were mentioned as obstructing factors in the provided links. Especially those developed by McAfee. Anything of such kind should be eliminated immediately upon detection. |
