In the UD-days we had a Personal Message system. That made it easy to contact everybody else.
Of course, getting one here should be #1, but a Plan B is probably wise to have, right? Maybe a few crunchers besides me miss the possibility to contact some co-cruncher. I have thought about what could be some kind of replacement for that without getting any bright idea. In the thread "Where Are You From", I sometimes were able to get into some kind of dialogue with the lurkers sitting on my fence, but it was pure chance, luck, haphazardly, and perhaps an accidental pressing F5 by the fence sitter or perhaps the fence sitter returning at a later day and reading back in the thread. A few nights ago, we had cruncher thybo sitting on our Base Camp fence. Routinely, I clicked the name, and routinely, this cruncher did not state anything in his/her Forum Profile as to where he/she is from. thybo would mean thybo - hah! - in Danish stating the region the person comes from (Thy) and would be a name typically chosen by a Dane, but could be everything else. I tried my "Hello-there-you-sitting-on-my-fence" routine with no luck. So, how would you suggest we get in contact with each other in a more efficient manner? I call this thread "Wanted". And I imagine it could be used somewhat like this: thybo, I should like to talk to you. If you also want to talk to me, please leave a post here in the "Wanted" thread or with Base Camp Your input to an Ersatz PM system will be welcomed by this eternal talker. |

It seems as if I'm the one who needs this the most.
No problem. Let me cry out for the friend I had and who gave me my Crow name and who herself has many names: White Horse, where are you Cathy Matthews, where are you - your e-mail as I have it doesn't work Ancient Clouds, where are you If any of you can give me any information as to how I can get in touch with her, I should be very grateful. |

Having frequented a number of other forums in my sordid past, I've wondered about the lack of a PM function here as well. It seem to be built into most forum software available, so my current assumption is that it's been turned off deliberately...
I'm not entirely sure why though, maybe just due to the sheer volume of users here? |
