Possibly the WCG email announcing BOINC for Android thinking

On that subject there was reply from ErikaT to my suggestions:

Trawling through the overnight forum chatter I came across this post knreed replying to SekeRob:
Rob - thanks for trying out the latest WCG test build. I'm running that myself (obviously). We are still drawing from the same pool size for all platforms. We have tested the mixed workunit size at an alpha environment but we have some work yet to do before we can release it here. Once we get an app that scales android -> linux/mac/windows -> GPU our hand will be forced and it becomes a must do. I'm looking forward to that day (although not imminent). Our next research project will be initially android + linux/max/windows although discussions are under way with the researchers looking at porting it to opencl.

I'm only pushing 25-30 days with the current farm - the new server, in theory, will only take that up to anything from 50-75, depending on performance. I'd need another one of them, to definitely take the top-spot back for daily-runtime records! wink


I think you will smash the runtime record once the validators catch up with you cool

Any ideas when the new monster will be up and running?

Winding down a load of machines as they will be deployed elsewhere and am going on holiday for 3 weeks at the weekend so hopefully no-one turns off my remaining PCs while I'm gone!

Averaging 13 days RT recently down from >25 days prior to holiday sad but his Globe has gone Silver smile

Still waiting on probate solicitors to get everything wrapped up with my Nan's estate - given past experience with solicitors and how "quickly" they work, the simple response would be that I don't know...

Technically, I have the money for it now, but would rather wait for this to come through, so it feels like I'm using part of my Nan's legacy for a good cause.

An excellent cause and a lasting legacy for your Nan. Maybe worthwhile naming the machine after her?

Hopefully it will be up and running soon, and then I will need to start worrying about maintaining pole position for runtime! wink
