Re: UK

Does any one know the optimal number of work units to run on a AMD FirePro v7900 on a quad core 2.4GHz Xeon CPU (no hyper threads) with 24 GB RAM for maximum PPD?

Yesterday tried luck with improving my GeForce GTX 680M performance, by trial and error. You probably need to think what you want, either sending back more work or claiming more points.... Noticed that am now claiming more points per work unit (75 points instead of 60... seems like a fraud!), as takes more time to complete (running 0.5CPU and 0.5GPU at moment). I picked 0.5CPU and 0.5GPU as now completing 2 units in slightly over 20 minutes instead of 2 in about 24minutes (12 min each) without impacting CPU work. smile ... Suspect you can do better regarding number of concurrent GPU units you can run, based on http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174138
- Most NVIDIA: 2-3 WU (Picked 2)
- AMD 6970: 4 WU
- AMD 7770: 3-4 WU
- AMD 79xx: 8-12 WU

My HD 7770 2gb is running 8 GPU on 2 cores very nicely, temps are good (but that said the PC's are next to a window that is always atleast locked slightly open, if not fully open, all day and night, with the sides off the cases, which helps keep everything cool).

Someone else where also said that the 6000 series can run up to 4 (mine are 6570's 2gb), I run 2 on each of mine and although they are going well on 2, 4 would be pushing it big time.. Also changing from 1-2 lead to an increase in time per work unit so overall I'm only about 2 3rd's better off. I would say that pushing them further would lead to an explosion of error out's (my error's for all GC's are about 1 every 3 days for each system).

Thank you for the advice.

My v7900 looks good for circa 100k PPD when running 24/7:

01/27/2013 0:001:05:41:51 32,137 69
01/26/2013 0:003:19:31:07 104,480 240
01/25/2013 0:004:01:20:37 98,193 224
01/24/2013 0:002:17:04:35 48,025 110
01/23/2013 0:000:08:14:40 6,922 17
01/07/2013 0:000:13:54:31 2,726 6
01/06/2013 0:000:09:05:53 1,716 4

Thinking of trying 4 GPU work units at a time tomorrow unless someone advises otherwise

Re: UK

UK top 10 - pleasing - thanks JohnnieB.
I'm only 2 days off achieving my original objective when I started upping the throughput back in August last year: overall UK top 100 points. I'm currently sitting at 101 :-)

Congratulations to everyone on all the records and PBs which are being broken and established at the moment!

Re: UK

Many thanks. Been waiting for validation to get #6000 results; looks like pv starting to significantly drop as only just over 10 pages at moment ... was only 4 last week. Hopefully points milestones soon....

Signature block shows daily avg of approx 7 days... should be averaging over 8. Until today haven't had much credit for gpu....

Re: UK

Unexpected Outage - started at 0:30 UTC on Jan 29 and is continuing

We experienced a serious unexpected outage last night starting at 0:30 UTC. We are starting to bring some elements of the system back up and have just now been able to get the website and forums back online. You will currently not be able to upload or download work.

Hope everyone learnt from recent experience and had at least 1 days cache! wink

Re: UK

Good afternoon everyone,

My new i3 3225 HTPC has arrived and has been built. Just need to add OS and WCG when I get home and will be up and running at full speed 24/7, assuming I can download new work with the current outage.

I have changed my v7900 FirePro GPU to run 4 GPU workunits at a time. Hoping for a little boost in output
