Re: UK

Thanks Ian. I'll look into further when I have a quiet moment. smile I've somehow got into a discussion about stats production in general using Excel and OpenOffice, with another team, SekeRob and others, which is monopolising my attention at the moment.

Re: UK

Does any one know the optimal number of work units to run on a AMD FirePro v7900 on a quad core 2.4GHz Xeon CPU (no hyper threads) with 24 GB RAM for maximum PPD?

Yesterday tried luck with improving my GeForce GTX 680M performance, by trial and error. You probably need to think what you want, either sending back more work or claiming more points.... Noticed that am now claiming more points per work unit (75 points instead of 60... seems like a fraud!), as takes more time to complete (running 0.5CPU and 0.5GPU at moment). I picked 0.5CPU and 0.5GPU as now completing 2 units in slightly over 20 minutes instead of 2 in about 24minutes (12 min each) without impacting CPU work. smile ... Suspect you can do better regarding number of concurrent GPU units you can run, based on http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174138

Last active: 20/01/2012; WCG member since: 23/10/2006; UK team since: 18/04/2008.

I wonder what prompted the retirement after so many months of little or no activity. confused

Re: UK

Evening all.

Good to see the continuing steady improvement in output.

@jonnieb - think you misread the retirement, ShepHeron retired from the team today. I only looked out of curiosity due to the lack of activity as you mentioned.

Requesting another brew for Statto! wink

My HD 7770 2gb is running 8 GPU on 2 cores very nicely, temps are good (but that said the PC's are next to a window that is always atleast locked slightly open, if not fully open, all day and night, with the sides off the cases, which helps keep everything cool).

Someone else where also said that the 6000 series can run up to 4 (mine are 6570's 2gb), I run 2 on each of mine and although they are going well on 2, 4 would be pushing it big time.. Also changing from 1-2 lead to an increase in time per work unit so overall I'm only about 2 3rd's better off. I would say that pushing them further would lead to an explosion of error out's (my error's for all GC's are about 1 every 3 days for each system).
