Hello,
All my CEP2 WUs fail after 2 minutes computing. The status is "Erreur de calcul" in French (~ computation error). But the messages log shows no error : 13/04/2011 10:49:09 World Community Grid Computation for task E201819_672_C.23.C17H9NOS3Si.00714288.2.set1d06_1 finished This behaviour has been happenning since I installed the last BOINC client version on my XP PC : 6.10.58. Previously it was working fine. Has anyone an idea ? Sorry if this problem has already been posted. (I haven't found it) Thanks for your help. ov7 |

Can you post the contents of stderr from one of these failures? To get this information from the website go to "My Grid" -> "Result Status". This will bring up a list of your recent results. Find a CEP2 workunit that has failed, in the result status column you should see "Error". Click on this and it will show the stderr.
Thanks, armstrdj |

CEP2 is a compound application which means there is a wrapper process which runs and launches all the worker process. The wrapper appears to be running normal based on your stderr but when it launches the first worker process that worker process fails. I can't think of an obvious reason why a client version upgrade would cause this to start happening. One thing you might check is if your antivirus program may be blocking and killing the worker process. It could be that the upgrade moved something and it is not excluded in the AV software.
Thanks, armstrdj |

Thanks for your reply.
My AV software logs show no error or problem detection or any action. And the CEP2 WUs are still failing, even if AV is disabled... ov7 |

What was the previous version of Boinc, and does the problem only affect CEP2 tasks?
Did you try a project reset? |

Yes, the problem only affects CEP2. All other projects work fine.
I don't remember the previous version of Boinc, but I will be able to tell you that, because I have another PC in this version. Fortunately, I haven't upgraded it, so it is still crunching CEP2 WUs. And no, I didn't try a project reset. How to do that ? Thanks, ov7 |

Hello ov7,
Reset project? In the Advanced View of BOINC Manager, select Projects, then select World Community Grid. This should activate the Command menu on the left. Then select Reset Project. I personally would empty my cache first, by selecting No New Tasks and then finishing off the old tasks before resetting the project. Lawrence |

Thank you for the reply.
I have never seen "reset project" because, in my Boinc manager, the button is called "Recommencer le projet". Now, I see what you mean. I do that as soon as my cache is empty. ov7 |
