Cystic Fibrosis ???

would anyone know if any of the projects includes research on Cystic Fibrosis, my grandson has it and I would really like to donate my time towards that project... my pc that I use runs an Icore7, 2.98gb proc and so far has generated about 1250 results and a million+ points since Jan29th so I would really like to throw that processing power behind any project that is looking at CF

Thanks

Re: Cystic Fibrosis ???

People with Cystic Fibrosis have a couple of missing base pairs in a gene. When expressed the aa-chain is different and the folding results in a different structure which alters the proteins function. In my opinion the elucidation of the folding steps might lead to a treatment. So in theory research in this area might be very useful.
Don’t know of a Boinc project that is carrying out such CF research however. Rosetta and Folding@home do research in this general area (folding) but I don’t know if they are presently doing any work directly on CF. Foldit might have done some work, or not, but that’s a hands on game like tool, not like Boinc. I suggest you ask at these projects.
Good luck,

Re: Cystic Fibrosis ???

On This Page mention is made of Human Proteome Folding being used for, amongst others, CF.

However, I'm not aware of any project specifically targeting CF. As skgiven mentions, Rosetta and FAH would be similarly looking at protein folding, albeit each with a different approach.

Good Luck.
