Forgive me if this has been asked before -- I did a quick search and didn't find anything.
Would it be possible in one of the WCG web pages (such as WCG statistics) to make a new column showing a snapshot of the number of WUs in each project currently available for download? (Of course it would -- the real question is the amount of effort needed and balancing that amount of effort against applying it elsewhere.) Seems everyone is interested in DDDT2 "rain" and the availability of betas at this time. On my wimpy PC, since last Fall, I have only received a handful of DDDT2 WUs (most of the time I have DDDT2 and one other project selected -- I am running one core). To receive DDDT2, I have to only have that one selected -- and I get "not availables" all day if none are available. Think the "peanut gallery" would appreciate this, if you (WCG) could make this happen. Sincerely littlepeaks |

Hi littlepeaks,
Per sieppel's last append you can find: The dg01/dg02 typeC's should start being sent out soon (within the next eight hours). There are a total of 137528 work units (two copies of each will be sent). 114872 work units are for dg01 and 22656 are for dg02. The final batch is dg02_a_g50_a491_to_a500. There are plenty of work in this rain - an entire month. Sometimes they just won't download because their internal hopper doesn't contain work for your platform. I had that problem last night but resolved it by repeatedly pressing the update button until they started coming - but this is something I do very rarely. As for other projects - looking at Sek's charts may give you an idea - I have seen estimated number of works in his chart. Also estimated finish dates. I am aware that HFCC has just over one month of work left. |

Are you asking about the total work remaining until a project completes or do you refer to the current supply of workunits loaded onto the grid ready to be download and run at this current time?

a snapshot of the number of WUs in each project currently available for download Server Status is used on other Boinc projects. This typically contains the number of tasks in the feeder for each app type. |

I would be happy if WCG created another button (maybe next to the download button) to just show percent completed or next to the project name in the forums. Sek does a good job but just a percent completed would give folks an idea if they have enough time to get the badge they want or switch to another with plenty of time to gain there goal.

Hi Bearcat,
I would be happy if WCG created another button (maybe next to the download button) to just show percent completed or next to the project name in the forums. Sek does a good job but just a percent completed would give folks an idea if they have enough time to get the badge they want or switch to another with plenty of time to gain there goal. I wanted this for HPF1 back in 2004. Then I discovered that many projects are relatively open-ended. The researchers are allowed to change their inputs as the results are evaluated and they get more information. In the long run, this is more efficient. But it makes a mockery of percentage figures. This thread was not started for the Project progress, but asks possible information about WU's ready to download, like most of the BOINC-projects support.
Also an overview of tasks in progress or backlogs of validation could be considered. Not needed to be always real time, but updated every 5 or 10 minutes would be nice Two examples: http://boincstats.com/page/project_status.php http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/server_status.php |

Are you asking about the total work remaining until a project completes or do you refer to the current supply of workunits loaded onto the grid ready to be download and run at this current time? My question is about workloads loaded onto the grid ready to be downloaded and run at the current time. However, if most people are satisfied with the "status quo", don't waste your time looking into it. It is not very high up on my personal priority list. Thought it might be nice, though. lp |

Elsewhere server status pages serve as simple resources to determine why you are not picking up tasks.
So perhaps a server status page, with project information could be made. It would be useful, especially if it contained an indicator of when Beta and Intermittent projects were running and a percentage approximation of each projects tasks presently available. I think this would also be useful for the technicians and scientists. |
