Computation Errors

Recently some jobs have had a computation error. As this indicates that the application programs are buggy, I have ceased participation in Human Proteome Folding and Dengue Drugs Phase 2.

Re: Computation Errors

hi,

If you visit My Grid > Result Status page and click on any of the ''error'' links for a HPF2 and DDDT2 work unit, then copy the content of the Result logs to a next post we can look at the problem and take it from there to see if new or with a known answer what might be the cause.

ttyl.

edit: Have asked admin to move this thread to BOINC Support. The Suggestions & Feedback forum is designed for members suggesting general operation improvements.

Re: Computation Errors

hi sparkler99,

The line:711 on HPF2 is one long known, rare and nothing that can be done about, unless scheduling weeks of programmer time with maybe a 0.001% improvement in project error rate. 99 of 100 fail immediately at start i.e. they don't use computation time, so the recommendation is: Ignore, unless there many on a specific device. Then, deselect in an additional device profile (you can have 4), and associate that device to that profile.

There's a number of threads in the HPF2 forum covering this and it's predecessor bug line:401 which occurred 10x more, now very rarely seen.

Wish there was an ''ah'', but unfortunately not reproducible on lab machines.

Re: Computation Errors

Makes no difference since when you've long had no error on that client it's "maximum" reliable and quite a few errors are needed, more than a dozen consecutive, to be kicked out of that rating group. Has no impact on Beta participation, only stops repairs jobs coming, which some consider a blessing since not liking short deadlines. And as far as DDDT2 A type, one has to be pretty lucky to get any of the very limited circulation, and then you'd not have HPF2 selected either, only DDDT2 ;-)

Re: Computation Errors

Hi,

You're almost there. You need to finish the last steps of my first reply to you:
If you visit My Grid > Result Status page and click on any of the ''error'' links for a HPF2 and DDDT2 work unit, then copy the content of the Result logs to a next post we can look at the problem and take it from there to see if new or with a known answer what might be the cause.

i.e. the Status column shows the outcome, ''error''. When you hit those links you get the Result Log, which is the piece we want to see for those 2 jobs.

edit: sparkler99 posted an example of such a log a few posts up in this thread http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...31011_lastpage,yes#317022
