BLackberry, Droid, etc. client?

Yep, it would have to run only while plugged in and maybe smaller batches.

Re: BLackberry, Droid, etc. client?

There's a port for Android that runs a BOINC Manager like interface so you can remotely monitor your clients on real computers. Plugged in or not, these devices would have serious heat dissipation issues would they be running any of the WCG sciences, even if they fitted.

Now I'm waiting on the next who's going to try run BOINC on the shiny Ipad2.

PS, BOINC is open source... anyone can port the client and some have tried. There's even somewhere a full java port, but that was for fun too.

Yes, BOINC itself is open source. The number crunching sub-programs themselves aren't. The only open source sub-programs I can see are SETI and 3 more I've never participated in or heard of before.

Essentially, you can have BOINC on any device, but you're limited to x86 (does any project have ARM support?) if you want it to actually work.

Well, it isn't a client, but it is a way to support a project in new ways using phones. Maybe more projects will watch and see how much success SETI gets with this app.

I can't even find a GPU client, which would run circles (100x, 1000x? or more) around the tiny processors and smoking plastic of a "smart" phone.

Perhaps SETI are good at coming up with new apps because they don't have a decent project. Visually finding ET from Radio Static - not my idea of fun and I don't think it would qualify you as a Public Scientist, even if you were the first to find anything - even ch5. The biggest waste of time anyone ever though of project strikes again.
