Hi,
I want to donate some cpu time to this project using boinc softwrae from debian's repository. however, when trying to add worldcommunitygrit to projects, I always get the message: Log-In failed using the same account i can login to this website with. anyone any hints? I don't want to install non-repository software, when possible. btw, is it possible to set the search to only return threads with matching posts? |

Hi,
----------------------------------------Think to remember we had a few of these some months ago and the techs getting involved for a solution, which may be the security software mangling things... but that's on Debian less likely. Would have to search using the Advanced search link above. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/search To refine searches use boolean AND / OR or + such as log+in+failed and you find your own post. ttyl [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 16, 2011 5:07:52 PM] |

I would also like to see the boinc wcg client packaged for debian. I have some (not many) debian linux devices running the software, and i had to go through some hoops to get it running on all of them (like manually install, set up a secondary x screen with auto login). Also, there's no way that i'm gonna update the client manually on each of them. A packaged versions would help greatly.

It may be beneficial to many, also including the BOINC Debian packagers, to see your experiences at some googled web page. Maybe you could find a place on wiki.debian.org/BOINC to write bits up? Also, there's no way that i'm gonna update the client manually on each of them. A packaged versions would help greatly. Updates are done automatically for you, if I am not erroneous. SM |

Well, what can I say.. I'l have to admit I was wrong and thanks for the pointer:
the boinc client in the debian repo works as it should and is remotely manageable via boinccmd. |

Updates are done automatically for you, if I am not erroneous. SM You are erroneous on that. It is not ever likely to happen for Windows. If on Ubuntu and other Linux Distro's it may happen automatically, depending on how the update prefs are set in Synaptic/Software Center and what ppa in the repository source library. Certainly mine upgraded from the GetDeb maintainers ppa v 6.10.58 dbrf2 to the official Ubuntu kit 6.10.58 dbrf3, after it offered the new release and I ticked apply. --//-- PS, maybe you are thinking of the science apps... they do automatically update if there is a new version, no permission asked :) |

I personally do not care so much about the client's version. What runs should not be touched IMHO. |
