Have the first of 2 new machines added to my list of devices.
----------------------------------------All base features except the processor was bumped up to the Xeon X3440 giving each system 2.53ghz X 8 threads. Their sole mission is to crunch and crush cancer. I chose this as it seemed to be the most threads for the buck. Currently on the first system I'm running ubuntu. Is there a recommended OS to run that is light weight, supports BOINC client, and maximize the systems ability to crunch? [Edit 1 times, last edit by mrsarge at Jan 11, 2011 2:49:50 AM] |

There are some interesting threads about which Linux is best. If you have the time take a look at them:

Congratulations on the new crunching machines! 64-bit Ubuntu should be a great choice for efficient crunching.
