Once again, we're flirting with a new points record. Will we hit it before or after parmesian's return in a couple of days? I'm guessing our points will be down a little today due to the server outage. Rather than let my systems run dry, I picked up some WUs from my current favorite alternate project.- D You guessed right Darth. Overall, WCG is down about 14-15 percent today. Hopefully, most folks didn't run out of work but just didn't have all their machines return all their completed work before the end of the day. The way BOINC backs off if it can't get to a project's servers, you could miss getting things in until the next day unless you force an update. Forcing an update is not all that easy if you have a lot of machines plus there's just being around to know to do the update as well. These sorts of outages is why I tend to recommend a minimum one day cache. While you may not get all your completed work returned that day, you'll still have work to crunch while the servers are out. The completed work gets reported eventually anyway. We'll see what our numbers look like tomorrow. |

Things are going great here, Keith, and Thanks! I bought a 1996 GMC K1500 and I've been pretty busy working on it. It's 15 years old and almost 300K miles, but it runs great. It just needed a little TLC. Now I'm all beat up and need a little TLC. ![]() My Tacoma's a '98 but it's the 6-cyl. engine. Right at 295K miles at the moment. It's a tad beat up outside but the inside runs fine. The first clutch had 245K on it before I had it replaced. I have to wonder how far it would have gone if I let it go to the end but then I don't care much for getting stuck on the side of the road. As always, once you finally replace something, it seems to start a chain. After that long, you just have the metal wearing out on things. Can't complain - it's nice to go a decade+ with no car payment. ![]() |

I'm going to give it my best shot keithhenry hopefully by end of month, a long but worthwhile slog ![]() Yep, most worthwhile! Feels good too. You're averaging 1040 points a day since start of the month. That works out to about 7.5 days to the half-million mark so end of month is quite possible. ![]() |

I expect to reach one million before the end of January although it will be close. An average of 30,000 points a day means it will take another 13 days to reach one million. If I can average a million a month, I should be at 12 million (or close to it) by the end of the year. End of month seems doable. The 2/2 guess was based on your 20 day average with the team as of yesterday but I think the first couple of days were slightly below average so that would push the guess out. Working in the other direction, you need 39,879 points a day to hit one million on the 31st. That number is probably higher that it really is depending on how much the outage today impacted you. Like I said, I think it's doable too. Given that you started the year with 18+ million, adding another 12 will make this a very good year! |

How long does it take before switching back to this team takes affect? I see your signature still says your team is U.S.Air Force. The switch is basically immediate. parmesian switched after midnight UTC so his points from today will go to the Air Force. If he had switched before midnight UTC, we'd have gotten today's points. The image in the sig. is a third party app that will reflect the switch once it processes the updated data it pulls from WCG. |

Let's keep the conversations going folks. I like peace and quiet as much as anyone but prefer not as much quiet here.
---------------------------------------- Sometimes, I get the image in my head of a bunch of 10-12 year old boys lined up along one wall and a bunch of 10-12 year on girls along the opposite one and everyone staring at their shoes while the music plays! Yea, I'm wierd. ![]() |

The image in the sig. is a third party app that will reflect the switch once it processes the updated data it pulls from WCG. i had to wait for the daily update so i could go over 1,000,000 points with U.S.Air Force. I switched back not long after the update. It took the sig a couple of days to update when i switched before, i expect it to resolve itself by monday. the best part is tomorrow, i'll be back on the stats list for MOT and we can start looking to hitting that 250million goal for the year (I should be good for 8-9mil).
