Hi, on Dec 26th, 2010 around 16:26PST 2 of my devices were stolen from my office. I had notice 1 device had communicated with the server for results after it was stolen and currently still working on a project. Could someone please send me the IP of all connections made to server from the device after or on 12/26/2010? I would like to submit the IP to authorities to track the stolen property. Please kindly help me anyway possible. You can contact me at my registered email b9657 ((AT)) charter.net anytime. Your help is extremely appreciated. Thank You!

That's one for the WCG techs for sure...
----------------------------------------Good luck in getting your property back (I remember reading of another instance where a computer was stolen and was successfully recovered via BOINC transmitting the IP address of the machine's new location - so there is hope). ![]() |

SGK128,
Please email support@worldcommunitygrid.org. Also, when you send the email please send the host names you are concerned about. You can find the host names from the results status page in My Grid. Thanks, -Uplinger |

SGK128, check your rosetta@home account as well. You can see your IP address there, if a system connected to their server.
----------------------------------------To others, thieft is a good reason to install Boinc as a service (as long as you don't have a GPU) and run http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/ - it just provides task stats, but lets you see a systems last IP used. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by skgiven at Dec 31, 2010 7:52:01 PM] |

also a really good reason to have:
1) Power on Password 2) HDD password 3) HDD encryption on all files When my system comes up; I create a couple of virtual drives (I've got 12Gb Memory) and move some of my files to the virtual disk (so they don't get re-encrypted) then run them from the V-disk! Acts kind of like an SSD... but without being one |
