Can't get 1 box to fill any cache at all. It's a quad and adds 1 new WU for each one crunched no matter what I set the cache to. I tried everything in this thread and I searched the FAQs. No help. Tried clear on local preferences, repair install, reboot. NADA. When I hit update it keeps requesting tasks for GPU even though that is not selected in preferences. I'm at a loss.

Hi nanoprobe,
First, please post the Messages tab after a reboot up to the GPU request. We may have to look at the preferences, but first we will look at Messages. Lawrence |

Here ya go.
----------------------------------------Just for the record this problem started yesterday. Up until then it was working. ![]()

My quad did this for a long time, but ended up fixing itself. I have no idea what made it start working. The only thing that would work at the time was to remove the card. Now it works fine, so I would love to know what the solution is in case it happens again.

It's only requesting work for GPU. Try turning on GPU processing. If that does not work I would drain the queue and do a Reset Project. Other than that I see nothing unusual in messages.
----------------------------------------![]() EDIT: Last resort is to Detach and Re-attach to WCG. Strange. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Dec 18, 2010 3:11:23 AM] |

Yes, strange. However, BOINC does get confused sometimes.

Yes, strange. However, BOINC does get confused sometimes. That's for sure. Had 2 other boxes weird out on DDDT2 yesterday after we had a power failure. Too many people running their heaters during the record cold weather.

Too many people running their heaters during the record cold weather. Stay warm. Here we have a 5 day major storm rolling in with 5-6" of rain here and as much 120" of snow in the high country. Good for skiers but they can't get there. ![]() I know you are a pro but my usual procedure for "wierd stuff" is: 1 Reboot 2 Then drain and reset project 3 Then detach and re-attach to project. 4 Then uninstall, delete the residual files left behind and reinstall BOINC 5 Then take the machine out into a corral and pump a few rounds of 12 ga. turkey loads into it and take it to recycling. ![]() ![]() ![]() Good luck. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Dec 18, 2010 4:06:43 AM] |

Steps 1&2 didn't work. Since it is crunching I'll prolly wait a while before proceeding to steps 3&4. The cache thing is just a minor annoyance. My preferred #5 method involves a sledge hammer. ![]()
