Re: Is the 12 Hr cut off the best limit?

I am continuing to review this thread to see if any changes have been made regarding processing time and replication for work units. I was offline for three days due to my modem crashing; I just got a new one yesterday (Friday) and all seems to be working as it should. I was told I would be upgraded to a higher speed line so I had my son check it; he said the speed is about double what it was with the old modem.

Re: Is the 12 Hr cut off the best limit?

Hi everybody,
the actual code changes for the time-out extension have already been made quite a while ago by our friends at IBM. They are supposed to be put into effect at the same time when IBM introduces some changes on their server - we have no influence on that one.
Best wishes.

Can't but not escape the ''what if'' thought since your reply in February to also do away with quorum 2.

Re: Is the 12 Hr cut off the best limit?

Our usual backlog of work has become unusually large of late. We have three major changes underway that are in front of the 12 hour cutoff change. As a result, there will be a bit of time before we will be able to implement that.

We will communicate what these changes are when they are released or close to being released.

confused Re: Is the 12 Hr cut off the best limit?

I saw this thread and almost all my wu's are cutoff.

[07:49:13] Number of jobs = 16

does this 1 mean i have wasted about 1:30 hours of cpu time ?

Or is the last part effective.

Re: Is the 12 Hr cut off the best limit?

''Waste'' is relative.... on my duo about 10% face the kill switch and increasing as the tasks get harder. I decided it was not optimal, but OK so the research can be advanced none the less. Yes it's recognized as fall-out, which is why some changes will be applied, where it cannot be predicted if that last job would have made it to the end before 12:00, so the plan is to do let these run to the end and not kill at 12 hrs. Several more changes are scheduled as knreed wrote in his reply above.

For good order, the stats do book in the full time, waste inclusive.

--//--

edit: On the upside, 1.5 hours could have gone to better use, the first 10,5 hours were of use and happily accepted by the researchers :D

Re: Is the 12 Hr cut off the best limit?

Knreed says there are 3 major changes underway. Sekerob says there will be 3 new projects before the end of the year. So should we use our grade school math and say 3+3 = 6? Or should we use our enhanced adult level logic and say that they are focus on working on getting the new projects going (to make us badge chaser happy smile).

Re: Is the 12 Hr cut off the best limit?

3 server side changes + 3 new projects = 3 new projects... with the added potential of say a weeks notice for intermittent restarts.
I'm still nibbling away at a CEP2 blue so to me it matters not if it's 12h or less.
