I'm having no success uploading finished CEP2 WUs. I currently have 4 WUs at various levels of uploading (0.84%, 19.71%, 8.42%, and 60.26%). However, the uploads always abort and then retry later.
----------------------------------------Here's what part of the message log says:
I'm behind a proxy, but other projects (FAAH, CCW, etc.) are uploading just fine. And DLs happen without errors, too. I've tried rebooting but to no avail. I've had 1 CEP2 result upload successfully, but since then nothing. Any ideas? [Edit 2 times, last edit by robertorr at Nov 19, 2010 2:21:32 AM] |

I am running under Windows, but the only thing I have seen related to the uploads is they do take longer, perhaps 25 min or more for CEP2. I did see some problems at one causing messages such as you describe being in the message log, but nothing for quite some time.

Hi robertorr, A quick fix with another positive side-effect on the speed that BOINC measures for downloads is to limit the upload speed. On the device profile or in the local preferences modify the value from zero (= no limit), to for instance 84KB. What seems to happens is that BOINC while uploading tries to go faster and faster and then the server is not able to keep up, or the ISP doing traffic shaping and then the connection timing out and the download starts again from the beginning (though the percentage progress does not reset and the upload total keeps increasing). Experiment with the "Maximum Upload Rate" value, for instance start with 48KB, then hit the Retry button in the client Transfer tab. From where I am I found 84K for my quad is the optimum, with real 1MB upload limit set by the ISP. It only seemingly is with the big _4 ZIP files that they keep restarting for some, not all. Let us know if that works. -- SekeRob

Hi,
I have the same problem here. 2 WU done and waiting to be uploaded. Uploading gives timeouts and requesting new work gives also a timeout for CEP2. Internet acces is OK and other projects are doing fine. I'm getting the timeout for almost 2 days now. I'm NOT behind a proxy or whatever and it ran perfectly from day 1 till 2 days ago. Greetings, Eurwin |

Hi Eurwin,
----------------------------------------Firstly, welcome to the forum's ![]() As to your problem, you haven't indicated as to whether it's all the files which you're having issues uploading with, or, as I suspect, the huge _4 file. If it is only this last file, then I'd suggest trying Sekerob's suggestion and come back to us with the results (either whether it was successful or failed). ![]() |

Eurwin,
----------------------------------------"I have the same problem here" begs the question if you've tried anything to fix out of the other threads on the upload matter as well as if you tried the suggestion in my post above. If you did, start with the 48K Max Upload Rate. Then, go to the transfer tab, select a file to upload and hit the Retry Now button. When you make a change the message log confirms as can be seen in the sample below, when I changed it to 64K in the local preferences: Lapsed-01 3393 World Community Grid 19-11-2010 12:11:00 Computer location: work 3394 19-11-2010 12:11:00 General prefs: using separate prefs for work 3395 19-11-2010 12:11:00 Reading preferences override file 3396 19-11-2010 12:11:00 Preferences: 3397 19-11-2010 12:11:00 max memory usage when active: 1739.25MB 3398 19-11-2010 12:11:00 max memory usage when idle: 1943.87MB 3399 19-11-2010 12:11:00 max disk usage: 9.58GB 3400 19-11-2010 12:11:00 max upload rate: 65536 bytes/sec 3401 19-11-2010 12:11:00 (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager) If uploads are 2x the number of cores in a computer, downloading is blocked i.e. on a single core with 2 CEP2 jobs to upload there cant be new downloads. Why crunch if you can't report is the reasoning. Let us know.

Hello again,
I have great news. After a restart of that device and checkingout CEP2 in the device profile, i got new work after a few minutes and as i see now, 30 minutes later got the first file a succesfull upload. All files are uploaded en reported succesfully. gb009761 : ALL result files of CEP2 couldn't upload for almost 2 days, not only the huge files. Sekerob: My max upload rate is set at 0 , so that means there is no limit. Most times the upload is capable of 65KB/s for eatch file (2 files at the same time uploading). But everything is back normal. I just found it strange because it worked fine sinds the beginning of CEP2 (I checked the override checkbox in my device profile for CEP2). Thanks for the replies. PS sorry for my bad writing, i'm dutch and didn't write english for a long time :-) |

Sorry again for not reading everything before i post.
----------------------------------------I didn't try whit a upload speedlimit but it restored on it's own. Probably a hickup in my BOINC manager. It's 6.2.28. When I get my bronze badge, i stop crunching for CEP2 with this device because it is waaaaaay to slow for CEP2. It's an Atom 1.6Ghz single core. Then i let only the fast core's crunch for CEP2, the atom may crunch again on C4CW , HCMD2 and DDDT2. Happy crunching [Edit 1 times, last edit by Eurwin at Nov 19, 2010 4:59:59 PM] |

I have rebooted the system, lowered my upload rate (tired 84, 80, 20, 10), but nothing has helped so far. Please advise on the next step. It always seems to stop uploading at roughly the same spot (12.9% of the upload).
