New computer with Windosw 7 64 bit, Intel I5 processor. Logged in under user name and downloaded program & installed. Bionic manager tries to connect to local host and can't. Running cpu benchmarks does nothing. Attach to project does nothing. Projects & tasks tabs are blank.
Please help, thanks, Bob |

Hi BFisch, can you post the first dozen or so lines from your Messages Tab (i.e., including any error messages etc)., as that way, we may get an insight into what's going wrong...

When BOINC manager can't connect to local host it is usually one of two things for me. Something else is using port 31416 or the port is blocked by a firewall rule. I guess it could be a password problem but not normally with a new install.

Everything in the messages tab is blank, as is the task, transfers statistics and disk tab. Tried reinstalling the software and it still does nothing. The main program page at the bottom of the page says "connecting to localhost" but never says connected.

Hello BFisch,
Did you install for All Users? I am wondering if this problem is caused by UAC troubles. One person fixed a similar problem by uninstalling, then reinstalling for All Users. Lawrence |

Yes I am pretty sure I set it for all users. Also, I am running the WCG on another computer and it runs fine.
Thanks, Bob |

Was the download from WCG? If so, uninstall it and try installing the recommended version from Berkeley.

Thank you, thank you BobCat13. The first downloads were from WCG. The Berkeley site program works great. Glad to be back in business again.
