curiosity about aborted WU

Hello,

if I decide to abort a WU, this will affect the reliability of the machine, in the sense that after it won't catch anymore those repair jobs or betas, like after when the machine is delivering an error?

Does it make any difference if the aborted WU is already a repair job?

Thanks
L.

Re: curiosity about aborted WU

It depends on as to how reliable your machine is. If you're going to just abort the 1 WU after reporting numerous Valid WU's, then it probably won't make much difference, BUT, if you're going to abort numerous WU's after not having very many Valid WU's, then yes, your machine may drop out of the Reliable class.

BTW, there is a FAQ on this here -> BOINC: Deadlines for Standard & Rush Tasks and What Clients Get These

Edit : You can get standard Beta WU's (i.e., not 'repair Beta WU's') even if your machine isn't in the reliable class - the only criteria for getting these, is that the Beta selection box is ticked and your machine meets the minimum requirement for that test. Of course, there has to be some Beta WU's in circulation at the time biggrin

Re: curiosity about aborted WU

Hello latakia,
No difference, but don't worry about it. You will turn out as much work as before. It is just that for a few days none of them will be short turnaround makeup units.

Thanks for caring and being so helpful! applause
