Canada is so cheap because you derive most from Hydroelectric-power drawn on a huge country combined with a very low population density. Some Canadian hydro company (Manitoba Hydro,Hydro Québec...) are selling power to the US for less than 1.5 cents/kw (off peak) In Manitoba it is 6.38 canadian cents per kwh Edit:Gramair and clarity [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 8, 2010 11:27:46 PM] |

In France, 8.848 euroC per kwh, including a Tax permitting producers to buy renewable energies at high fares.
Same fare night and day, summer and winter. Others fares exist for big consumers at night or in winter. |

Actually, there are some advantages in nuclear power (85% of the total french production). Price is the first one.

----------------------------------------That's a pity. Still lower than german price but not that much... I came to know current price in my home city, where I'm originally from - Novosibirsk (Russia). It's about 0,052 US$. Seems to be a good price and not that easy to beat ![]() ![]() |

Why I'm asking about the energy prices. I think, it's too expensive for many of us and I have an idea...
----------------------------------------Why don't we outsource our crunching in a place where the price is 4 times lower than what we pay now? I would be happy to place my next crunching-only boxes "offshore", save some $, which would result in more crunching. Certainly it would be not so extremely cheap, because somebody would be needed to setup & support these boxes + room to place them. But I think it would still make sense, if many people would do it. What do you think? Would you rent crunching-boxes (accessable and configurable over Internet) offshore? ![]() |
