No never had so much because my cache is at 3 days. But it happens regularly for uknown reasons that the communication link is interrupted. As I travel often I am not able to take any action and so the device runs until the cache is empty and then stay idle.
----------------------------------------The interruptions I have experimented are, (1) my wireless lan that for whatever reasons goes down, or (2) the connection with WCG that is supended here again for various reasons. In the (1) case things resume automatically but not always and from time to time the even when the link is restored the Boinc manager is unable to resume. In case (2) it happens that once WCG servers are up and running again, for whatever reason uploading still does not resume and all automatic retries fail and then there is a backoff and things simply do not resume. Yesterday I got such a problem. I was back from travel and one machine was in that situation with cache depleted and hundreds (HCC on a 12 core at 4Ghz crunches a lot per day) of WU waiting to be uploaded. No way to get them uploaded. The two ways that have immediately restored things are first to exit Boinc Manager and restart it. Sometimes this is not enough, and then it is better to exit, shutdown the machine, restart Windows and then restart the Boinc manager. This has always solved this type of problems. Hope it helps I have just to add that my machines run exclusively for WCG and are with W7 64 bits. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Hypernova at Nov 1, 2010 7:49:56 AM] |

Hi John151,
----------------------------------------How many cores/threads/computers are you contributing to HPF2? 1-2-4-8 and for this science exclusively? There was a change in run time (~+50%) and it being a weekend dipper in contributions (office machine switched off), it is not unexpected to see that for those that continue 24/7. Watch it for Monday/Tuesday when the office crunchers catch up. Note that HPF2 requires a minimum of 15 results before validation can be done. If you click on the Work Unit name on the Result Status page you can see how many have been returned that have ''pending validation'' status. If 15 or more ar with PV status, there may be, as mentioned by fredski, a ''try validation'' option at the top. Click that and the validation will be scheduled. Let us know

Yeah when I first came back to Prote-2 last week my Pendings built for 2 days before coming through as valid.
----------------------------------------Could be there just aren't as many people working on this specific project as the others. ![]() |

I noticed the backlog after switching from Cancer to HPF2, and assumed the problem was HPF2 related. However, further analysis shows that I have cancer units pending back as far as Oct 22, so I don't think it is related to the project.
I had have 4 pages of "pending" units this morning, and that is now down to 3. I also scored over 20K points today, which is a huge increase from the last two days where my points were negligible. I am running 3 PCs currently, for a total of 10 cores. All PCs appear impacted. Log files don't show any issues with communication, the problem appears to be on the WCG side. |

This could well be the 'weekend shutdown' phenomenon, and now that a new week has begun, WU's are being crunched (and returned) again. ![]() |

FYI: (Reread my previous post, carefully... Monday/Tuesday spike... run time extension)... almost 26,000 more validations :D
----------------------------------------http://bit.ly/WCGQLK edit: As predicted, the second post-weekend Tuesday wave kicked in with the 50% longer tasks arriving and validating (from 6 hours mean to 9+ hours mean).
