smile Fedora14 All Systems Go

Ok can my last useless post wherever that is.

Success at last with Fedora14 which has really improved lately.

Just one thing to those not familiar to the quirks of *nix/linux installs.

The info you are after is in the Fedora14 usage doc once installed this put the final piece of the puzzle as to why boinc client wasn't connecting to local host.

Thing is you have to fire it up in terminal first in su mode btw otherwise boinc doesnt have admin rights bla bla bla.

Then fire up the GUI boinc manager in system tools and if that don't work do the cmd line in terminal listed in the usage doc.

Think that's how i did it anyway it's working !!!

Hope this helps the newbies to Linux etc as it's not very user friendly.

And the instructions for this stuff should be more clear cut instead of us having to hunt for it.

Happy Crunching!

Your previous post is here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead,29910_offset,0#296433 with the answer. If you go to the Wiki on a Fedora install here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_BOINC and here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_BOINC_on_Fedora you may help further the quality and usefulness of the documentation by improving the instructions there.

Thanks in advance anbd happy crunching.
