First open BOINC Manager Options and untick the "Run Manager at LogIn?" and hit OK
----------------------------------------Within msconfig delete all boincmgr.exe references. NO Other! Auto Startup Shortcuts as seen in the can be in: C:\Users\YourUserSignin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup Where YourUserSignin are the names of the different users registered to the system to include 'All Users' Also in the Registry there could be a key. Operate with extreme care! Find: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Manager] "DisableAutoStart"=dword:00000001 If the value is 0 change it to 1. Search further in the registry if there are more.

After a complete shutdown and restart, the second icon just comes back. I untick the "run Manager at Login", it does nothing except come back again after restart. All msconfig changes come back after restart. You can't actually delete the entries in msconfig, just uncheck them(vista). Vista won't let me access the AppData folders, I'll have to mess with it later- I've got other things to work on now. Very, very frustrating problem. I shouldn't have to mess with msconfig or the registry after an upgrade such as this- I'd much prefer just to revert to the previous version if possible.

Flying Crayfish-
In all your posts I don't see that you have done what I did- remove a shortcut from the startup folder. click the Windows Start button start>all programs>startup See if there is a shortcut to the Boinc software there. If there is, delete it from the list. Hope that helps! |
