To conclude, the only possibility to increase the runtime is to add more threads.
----------------------------------------Maybe the next Intel cpu will come with 16 threads. This means with 12 machines single socket you do Ruby in a day. And why not expand the HT concept and have more threads per core, say 4. Then we would have an octocore with 32 threads. Then you get Ruby with only 6 machines. I suppose that as multiple threads become more and more the norm across the board badging too will have to be extended. ![]() |

Was reading something yesterday about anything much over 48 cores is going to cause internal bottlenecking requiring OS redesign, with least work expected for Linux.
