Good stuff. Incidentally, the organic molecules we study for organic photovoltaics can potentially also be used for dye-sensitized solar cells.

Not solar energy but related. Some boffins at Stanford have figured out a way to make rechargeable batteries live longer.

MIT scientists came with new approach how to generate electricity from the sunlight in more efficient way.
"A new approach to harvesting solar energy, developed by MIT researchers, could improve efficiency by using sunlight to heat a high-temperature material whose infrared radiation would then be collected by a conventional photovoltaic cell. This technique could also make it easier to store the energy for later use, the researchers say." http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2014/how-to-tap...s-well-as-light-0119.html |

There are other things going on at Harvard too.
The Extremely Strange Solar Energy Technology You'd Be Stupid To Ignore Rather than capturing incoming visible light like a conventional solar photovoltaic panel, Capasso wants to generate direct current electric power by emitting infrared light. http://www.forbes.com/sites/williampentland/2...youd-be-stupid-to-ignore/ |

Is this three-deck, zero-emissions super jumbo plane the future of flight?

The BBC World Service has a podcast of a radio program 'Future of Solar Energy' broadcast on 15th May 2015.
It is available from http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/discovery I think it should be accessible from non UK IP addresses. |
