Re: I made a new forum signature.

Here are some new signatures:
http://www.wcgsig.com/833864.gif ; Dmitri Krasyukov
http://www.wcgsig.com/487155.gif ; Shaky Jake
http://www.wcgsig.com/97111.gif ; russv4

Question - Are there any non-seniors that would qualify as Guru if there was no senior requirement? Next question - How many Gurus were there at the start of the new project (just went from 25 to 29)?

I don't know the answer to the first question, the second one I think I can look up in the daily backups I have stored.

nerd SNURK

I asked the first one because it seems to me it's impossible for someone with less than 6 years to have badges for 90% of the projects. wink

They joined WCG early on and have stayed around and are still crunching. They sure have my thanks for their altruism and perseverance.

you currently need 23 badges and would had to be here about 8.5 years.

If you have the current badge and have 22 badges, you will need 5 more badges (probably 8-10 more years of crunching at current rate of new projects) at which time you will have 27 of 30 and therefore 90%. If you have 21 or less, it's just a dream because with 21 now you will need 36 of 40 badges which is 15 more badges. I'd estimate 15 years minimum, and probably more.

Re: I made a new forum signature.

Next question - How many Gurus were there at the start of the new project (just went from 25 to 29)?

I just had some time to delve into the logs for you. There were 46 Gurus on september 30, the next day on october 1 this number was down to just 22. At the moment we're back to 40 gurus.

I'd estimate 15 years minimum, and probably more

This is exactly the reason why some of us feel that the definition of guru should be altered, or the guru-status should be dropped altogether. As you say it's nearly impossible to reach if you currently have less that 23 badges.

Thanks for the information!

Well, the senior requirement is no longer needed. Because if you have the needed badges, you have put in the time.

Also, I remember saying at the beginning that 90% was too high. wink

And the beta workunits are too few for everyone that's trying to get them when they are available.

I think it may happen sooner than that. Computing for Sustainable Water (CFSW) started on 4/17/2012. That was five projects ago. So at the current rate of adding new projects we should get five new projects in about 3-1/2 years. thinking
