How to merge hosts? Not possible here at WCG. |

And is it possible to do? That would be, and database hosts decreased, especially for those who are long gone.

I would love to be able to merge hosts. There is no fundamental impossibility to do it after all. But it seems that it is not a WG priority. Maybe it is better to show a higher than real number of hosts (machines) connected, for marketing purposes.

But it seems that it is not a WG priority This decision is not a whimsical thing that is able to be changed at a flick of the wrist, but a core design principle on how the data is captured and stored. |

I have 44 hosts, but only 6 active. Why store data on those hosts that have long been absent?

Because there is historical data associated with those individual hosts

Because there is historical data associated with those individual hosts In my case, it is the same physical device with the same name, though the HDD and OS were changed. Unfortunately, my boinc+data backup, saved to thumb drive, didn't restore as desired. A new device, with the same name, was created. Merge of same-name machines is a feature in boinc user accounts -- but I haven't seen a way to get directly into boinc to use it -- it seems one can't get there from here (except through WCG's proxy template), unless I missed something. |
