Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Maybe you just aren't putting much effort into it. After reading some weren't getting many, I moved a couple PC's to receive this only and have over 70 just in a few minutes of trying. Not really that hard people.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

i am sure as the badge hunters get to the levels they want it will become easier to get these work units. right now i think i have enough in my cache that i have stopped grabbing more for now (will recalculate in a few days)

the reason it is hard for people to get these work units is that the feeder loads slow for this project and dosnt have many slots ... so when you have lots of computers trying to get lots of WU's of this type it may be slower than people want.

on a good note though this behavior of the feeder dose prove that if you have enough computing power devoted to one project that you can actually tip the scales of balance as for how much the selected target gets done. so for all the people who say selecting only 1 target doesn't matter besides for badge hunting... you end up with a yes and no situation.. yes if there are enough people working your desired project you can push it faster BUT not by much

My point is that people spend more time whining about not getting them then actually trying to get them. Manually update your clients for a very small amount of time (typically mere minutes) and you can fill them up during the spurts. It's not that difficult.

I too wonder what all the belly-aching is about. I have upped my cache to 2 days and now have 23 pages of IP. Simple. Easy. Worry and Stress Free. Now under 200 days to Sapphire. biggrin

Just for the record, I'm not complaining. I was only trying to keep it lighthearted. If I never get another DDDT2 WU I wouldn't lose any sleep. I surely would not waste my time sitting in front of multiple machines hitting the update button. If they come, fine. If not, on to other projects.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Back on our rain theme, currently running a Water/Dengue mix (what better there is in context) and this seems to balance quite nicely. Both are in low pool supply / low weight, so work will come in nicely shared for the coming days.

We just passed 3/4 million validated results for this research. Assuming a full simulation is run on the ''ts'' for calibration and verification to confirm the outcome matches the reference standard Dr. Watowich mentioned many months ago, then there's hundreds of thousands still to do on this target. But this is a wide assumption ;>)

I'm running the same mix with the threads I have here and letting WCG sort out the distribution. I'm getting about 20 clean water for each dengue. Only completing 1 day of dengue/day but if the scientists are in no hurry to complete the project it gives me extra resources to do other projects. Apparently dengue is going to be around for a long time.

Big drop in temp here today. Finally I can set my fans back from 100% to automatic. smile

Cheers. coffee

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

hmmm "if the scientists are in no hurry". The Dengue team could have taken the HCMD2 approach... go pretty much silent for 2 years and then launch after all the in house testing. Personally I'm thrilled to see the gradual increase of batches put through it's paces and the grid resource assisting in that... a sign of progress and the greatest sign that it's no GIGO but meaningful data... experiments in motion.

cheers and crunch we will.
