Re: Size of the WU

Noticed that a Q6600 was almost as fast as a Q8400 and a Phenom II 940 was slightly faster (all native):

I'm yet so see any on my i7, but the 2GHz Core 2 Duo's and 2GHz dual Core Athlons get through them in about 3.4h:

A bit surprised to see 8 tasks in PV.

Re: Size of the WU

The validators are periodically paused... a lesser important process, where the scheduler then has less to content with. Picture grids where all these different daemons are running on a single server... letting each run in blocks when there are high loads is more efficient. Similarly, if the servers are very busy the uploading is paused, the downloading getting priority, or the feeder and share memory refilling. Some of these pauses are on fixed time points, and some are load driven. PV clearing near end of day does though get more juice... it's when the line is drawn for all the stats observers and tally list keepers.
