Re: Join The International Team

Well JP and team. Guess I'm gonna pull the plug. I'm not gonna pay power on 47 machines just to get up every morning and find that I'm doing nothing but burning power.
BOINC has gotten just like GRID they had a working model but they couldn't leave well enough alone so now they've got nothing but problems.

Re: Join The International Team

Damon....What a bummer !!!!! I agree that it can be very frustrating when problems such as yours are encountered. I don't blame you for wanting to pull the plug. Like JP says the decision is yours. I agree with JP about posting in support to see if anything can be found.

Also when you say pull the plug, maybe it can be a temporary shut down until the problem can be resolved. If it indeed can be.

I know I speak for many here in that we'd hate to lose your contribution to the cause.

Hopefully this issue can be resolved.....Take care my friend and whatever your decision, I support it......I wish you all the best and hope to see you here !!!

Yoou know, it's amazing how many people the grid is gonna lose because this problem not only causes the errors but it prevents communication until the project is manually restarted and sometimes that doesn't fix it either. How many people out there run WCG and won't know to do this.
Somewhere there's a programmer that needs to have his A$$ kicked!

Re: Join The International Team

Damon, I know how you must feel. I am too having problems but with my main PC and right now ASUS are not very cooperative. I sent them a long email explaining everything and all I get is "is your RAM on the QVL?"

The QVL has like 10 different types of 1600MHz ram modules so the chances are not so big but my modules are practically the same as those tested there. In computer forums people are thinking just like I am - that the south bridge is faulty due to some system logs and disk issues. Well well, I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope that ASUS will be more understanding after my second email...

So, Damon please try to hang on there and maybe the WU problems will be fixed soon.

Re: Join The International Team

It's strange. Supposedly this is a problem affecting everyone. But while my contribution has been cut to about 40% the people i personally compete with are still returning the same old amount. Guess that goes hand in hand with how some people get plenty of the new project wu's like DDDT2 and CEP2 & I hardly ever see one.
Oh well....
