Re: Join The International Team

Had hopes of being more active on the forums, but I seem to be failing that.
Base Camp can help. acpartsman was an International Team member, and he has not forgotten you.
I would like to be a good neighbor - heja granne
Just earned 20 year badge for OET. Didn't make it in time for my birthday the 6th of May, but almost! Only two weeks off.
Congratulations on your badge rose AND on your birthday rose
Will switch out OET now for ZICA and MCM and SCC I think.
Any crunching is good crunching, flodisar smile
Hope everyone is crunching on and doing fine!
It would be nice if some of your team members would come out and play.
Have you any plans of applying for the vacant position as a captain of The International Team, flodisar?
And is a flodisar a flodhest/hippopotamus in Sweden?

Hello there Little Mermaid, what a pleasant surprise, I was not expecting to see such a post! :)
Thank you for your congratulations on both the badge and my birthday!
Yes, I have some plans to apply for the Team Captain position. I would be off to a good start if I do it if I get a vacation this summer, it would be nice!

Thanks for the nice picture of a hippo! :)
Indeed "flodisar" is referring to hippos. It's not a real word, but it's in plural and perhaps it would be similar in Danish :) One Flodhäst wold "translate" into "en flodis" by this grammar. I came up with this a very long time ago even before I started crunching for UD.org back in the days.

Also, as you may have guessed, I do like hippos a lot. Ever since I was a child I have collected hippo figurines and plush toys and such. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of space in my apartment so I am no longer as active in my collection.

I guess that Little Mermaid refers to "Den lille havefrue" or something like that, no? :)
Anyway, a big thank for stopping by, it was a very pleasant surprise!

/flodisar

Re: Join The International Team

Nice hearing from you, flodisar.
I was on UD Grid also, but we never had a contact there. I 'spoke' a good deal with Jean-Pierre though.

Yes, my name is 'Den lille havfrue' from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale.
Have you ever been to Copenhagen and maybe seen the statue in the harbor?

So you collect flodisar!
You and acpartsman has an interest in common - only his preferred animal is the teddybear.

Could we strike a deal? If you apply for becoming captain of 'The International Team'
Base Camp will compose a crew and visit you on what we call a trek to make some publicity for your team.
Do you know the procedure for applying for the position as a captain?
I know Saphir12 of team Kraland became their new captain, so she will know.
Also TKizzle became the new captain of team Easynews , so he's one more to aske. I think there is something about it here in the Forum as well.

We issue a badge for every trek. I'm very sure of what the motive for the badge for a trek to your team would be ....

Where in Sweden do you live?
I'm on Sjælland, some 80 km south of Copenhagen.

Re: Join The International Team

Hi there, Little Mermaid!

Oh, so you are a real crunching veteran too, that's nice! :)
I had a bit of contact with Jean-Pierre back then and for a while on WCG as well, but sadly not so much the last years though.

Considering that I live in Sweden, it is a shame that I have never actually been to Copenhagen or Denmark at all, other than passing through on a bus 17-18 years ago or so. It would be nice to visit Denmark sometime though!

I live about 200km south of Stockholm on the east coast side.

That's a really nice deal and offering me help is very kind!
I actually don't know how to apply for Captain of a team, but I shall try to find out.
I believe that we can have a deal, I'll let you know when I've become a captain! :)

A trek, sounds interesting. Let me know a bit more how it works in practice. :) Some Base Campers will visit my team forum for a while so that we can have a nice chat?

Be well!

Re: Join The International Team

This is a classic example of:
When you talk about the sun - it will come out and shine on you biggrin
I'm going out now, but I'll post you an answer when I get back.
You could post a question about the Captain issue for Saphir12, new captain of team Kraland here
she has done it, and I'm sure she will like to help.
TKizzle was approached from the WCG management, I understand.
You could ask him, too - here
- see you later, flodisar
good luck

Re: Join The International Team

I see Base Camp had a visit from you - thank you, flodisar.
I understand you have read up on the Base Camp philosophy, so we have a deal.
You just take you time to get yourself acquainted with how make a 'coup d'etat'.
And when you are ready, we'll visit you.
I'll keep an eye on how you are progressing.

I'm not all that much familiar with Sweden myself.
Many years ago my ex and I made a roadtrip from Limhamn
south to Ales Stenar and Dag Hammarskjöld's home

on to Kristianstad (a concert in that church Danish King Christian IV built) up to Eksjö (lovely city) on to Kalmar to Öland, Oscarshamn (the nuclear power plant), the Match Museum in Jönköping and out to the Kattegat coast at Halmstad. That was a very good trip.
Oh, and I visited a Facebook friend and her family in 2012 years ago in Trollhättan and saw the old locks. So impressive.
And day trips to Malmö by train twice.
Oh, actually a lot of Sweden - good memories.
My parents had a couple, Ingrid & Gerhardt from Gävle - partner city of my city - visiting for a week. An exchange program by Foreningen Norden ...

I had no idea there has been so much Sweden in my life!
- I would love to visit Stockholm some day; had something planned at some point, but it fizzled smile

Re: Join The International Team

Happy 6th of June, flodisar

How do you celebrate a day like this?
I hear you have serious wildfires north of Stockholm
- we're in a drought as well.
The farmers are complaining, you may not burn anything,
and we have restrictions on use of water.

Re: Join The International Team

Thank you little mermaid!
I did have a nice day, good weather and all!

Everything is dry over here, yes a lot of forest fires and restrictions on using water for irrigating grass.

Hopefully the weather will cool off a bit for a week or so, so that things get a chance to go back to normal.
