Re: Join The International Team

Thanks!
Good luck with the car work Jack (is it repair or clening?), I can only clean and change lamp bulbs (changed fuses once) in cars :)

Thinking of the cache...with a RAM Disk...if PC hangs or BSODs (especially sine I am not finished with the OC yet..) or a power failure strikes...what will happen to the cache? Probably will be gone...so I will keep a low cahce to begin woth and evaluate the stability of the system first perhaps...

Oh, I have to change my signature :)
Btw, where do people get those oval widgets such as the one you have?

Last thing first, there is a SNURK SIGNATURE thread (chat room I believe though not sure) and I'm not sure if he's taking new people on or not. (Thanks for mine though SNURK if your reading this I love it!)

About your cache, I imagine if your on a RAM it would disappear, but they can always send out those units to other people if your computer dies/freezes etc. Perhaps a full day would be a good compromise? Up to you I disabled my RAM drive due to making this my main PC and I like to load games and mess around and have to restart occasionally.

And the car, lol, we sound like we have same mechanical knowledge.
I need to check air filter (some of the nuts of the housing are stripped so I told them not to worry about it when I got my oil changed) and I read in my manual that it may have a 'cabin' air filter tired I have never touched it in 3 years if it does.... GROSS Plus I have a check engine light more than likely related to the lack of coolant the other day (massive overheating remedied by more coolant). So I borrowed a code reader from a guy at work and have to find where it plugs into read the code and clear it. This will stretch my mechanical abilities to the breaking point, plus my patience. I'm just not going to pay a hundred bucks for a mechanic to tell me the car was hot, my wife already told me that for free when the gage went into the red zone.
Oh and it's probably dirty but if I get everything else done, it can stay dirty it's FRIDAY! Oh and my other car has a 'change oil' notice. Well I just had it changed so I have to figure out how to clear it...
I will say I'm grateful they still drive around, they get me to work so I can feed them gas, and I'm grateful we don't pay what you folks do in Scandanavia!
Sorry for the long post, I haven't had enuf coffee to realize I was going on and on and on tongue

About the signature, I have signed up for one of my own at SNURK's thread (Thanks JP for the link!)

The PC is my main PC, but I have 16GB of RAM in it so with a 4GB RAM disk I still have 12 left for windows and apps to use. It is true that the work will get fed to other machines on WCG if mine disappear due to a crash or so, so not such a big deal. Think I will increase the cache once I am "finished" with the overclock (still waiting for a reply from Asus R&D department, but I can already see they have withdrawn the latest bios that I used from teir website, could it be after my report?).

WOW, changing filters and clearing error codes...that's some serious stuff! You are almost as good as any mechanic here :) It they don't see an error code on a device, then they can't find the fault! :) And also trying to make a mechanic to hear anoise from the engine or so, it is almost undoable. They must all be deaf around here! :)
But if you have not touched the cabin air filter for three years...I suppose you do not follow the yearly service plan where they are supposed to change oil and filters and stuff and maybe change some more stuff so that you'll be back soon again :)

Yea, the gas prices are ridiculous here. They had an "automatic" (yes it's put on yearly autopilot now) tax raise 1 january 2012 by equivalent 5 cents/litre (or $0.19/gallon)! And they have some sort of goal that the gas price should cost $2.87/litre or $11.05/gallon in 2015 or so. Today the price is $2.09/litre or $7.9/gallon. Awful, people can't afford car vacation, driving their kids to activities, driving to work or anything. Jealous of you gas prices! :)

Anyway, you've got a good writing humor, so it was great to read your post (don't worry about the length :) )
Alright, nighty night team from Sweden!

Re: Join The International Team

Just a reminder the Malaria (GFAM) challenge starts TODAY!
Crunch it with us if you like!
Will still count for the other two challenges we are in (runtime and points)!

Edit: OK we started in 8th place not bad, our other challenges we were in 8th place, but now in one, we are in 7th (we passed up some vultures wink )

I must confess, I did some things needing doing (including some take home work, but I didn't put my new computer together...) next weekend is coming...
