I did a search looking to answer my question before posting this post, but as there are thousands of posts and I am sure this was answered before, but I do not have hours to find it. I have selected HFCC and DDD-2 as the 2 projects I am working on and have a dozen computers producing 30+ days of work a actual day yet have received no DDD-2 work units. Then yesterday I started the old trick of increasing my cache but only selecting Beta and DDD-2 WU's and "caught" 3 bets but no DDD-2. Timing to some extent but does not explain how over the last 30 days + (more then a actual month of computation) which is over 900 days worth of work, no DDD-2. Question, Does HFCC have priority over DDD-2 or is it just bad timing on my part. Do different projects depending on the cruchers selection have different priorities? Hard to believe that I would not have receive even one DDD-2 WU!!!

Hi judson,
DDDT-2 is currently in intermittent status. Tasks do trickle in and wait to be completed, but at this point, only those who have a device profile that nabs only DDDT-2 and time their cache to get nothing other than DDDT-2 actually get the work. Any other systems would be very lucky to get such a work. It is supposed to ramp up to full production where anyone can get DDDT-2 workunits - and the mystery is when will this happen? I agree with you, this leaves plenty to be desired by the people who don't request specifically DDDT-2. It should happen later this year (a bit optimistic if you ask me) or sometimes next year. I see you already have a silver badge so you did get quite a lot of work units in the past. For full details or past history - check out the forums there. In the meantime, there are plenty of other projects that you can crunch. |

Bieberi,
Thanks. Yes intially I played the game but as my ultimate goal is to contribute, quickly lost interest. Just did not seem fair to me and was a waste of time. Hope you are right about it coming out later in year or next. |

DDDT2 will have something like 22 million work units to complete but it is taking longer than expected for the scientists and WCG to get them out onto the grid. We just have to have patience and they will come eventually.

There have been only a few hundred DDDT2 WUs over several weeks, therefore the probability to get one without doing any special trick in your settings is close to null.
----------------------------------------That said, with so small numbers, the probability to get some by doing special tricks was only slightly above zero, so you should not feel too frustrated: at least you have saved the time it takes to do the tricks. Regarding when a normal flow of DDDT2 WUs might start I am less pessimistic than bieberj, I am thinking more of September if no completely new problem is discovered by the scientists and the techs. But maybe I am too optimistic. We'll see. |
