Moving project files help

Can anyone tell me how I can move the project files? I mean mine went to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data. How can I move it somewhere else and have boinc point to it?

Re: Moving project files help

More from our darned FAQ index: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?view=292 but with the newer clients on windows it can be as simple as ...

- exit the client completely so the service is stopped,
- pull the internet cable
- copy the old data_dir (listed in client message log) to the new location
- uninstalling and re-installing the client during which you point the installer to the new location.
- Do verify in the client message log that the new data dir is being listed!
- Then when happy, plug back the internet cable and let it run
- Only then delete the data from the old location... no rush.

Re: Moving project files help

Hello anhhai,
I think the easiest way is to bring up BOINC Manager, select Project, select World Community Grid, and then select 'No New Tasks'. Once you have finished the last work unit, make sure that you have sent everything back (select 'Update' if necessary) and then uninstall BOINC. Then install BOINC wherever you like. This does not require any special expertise. If that does not work, then I will have to read up on BOINC over on the BOINC forum.

Added: So Sekerob has this in his FAQs. biggrin His way is faster but ... Anyway, I always try the lazy man's way first.
