The 3rd HPFP task in a row has failed on my PC and this one after nearly 11 hours of processing.
----------------------------------------MS is giving a C++ Runtime Library message saying that the tasks requested to be killed by the Runtime Library. I had an application that was running in the background to do with apache and tomcat, filezilla etc. I have deleted those processes and I will see how this HPFP tasks does. The error message claims that the output file cannot be found. Does that ring any bells? Where are these output files kept: "The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) - exit code 3 (0x3)" ![]() |

The error message claims that the output file cannot be found. Does that ring any bells? Where are these output files kept: When a task fails it's normal that some output file(s) be missing. This message is usually the consequence of the real problem which has killed the task, and information about the real cause must be looked for in the Result Log accessible by clicking on the "Error" link in the Result Status page on the website."The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) - exit code 3 (0x3)" |

But the only error message in the Results page is the one that mentions that the system cannot find the output file I mentioned.

OK, let me detail it.
----------------------------------------The real error message in the Result Log of the WU is "The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) - exit code 3 (0x3)" and it can be related to any I/O operation that the application wants to do, not forcibly to writing the final output file. The error message in BOINC's message log about the missing output file is the consequence of the above and does not bring anything more than "the WU has failed". |

Is there anyway I can find out why the work units for the HPFP projects are the only ones that are failing. The Conquer Cancer and the Child Cancer work units finish to completion.
----------------------------------------Having said that the Child Cancer wu was only run when I had the XMAPP and Mercury applications disabled. Also the current wu is an HPFP wu and it has run for the last 12 hours OK. The XMAPP application doesn't seem to bother the Conquer Cancer WUs. ![]() |

The last HPFP wu ran perfectly and it is half way through the next one. So I suspect the problem was the XMAPP installation.

As noted before, HPF2 seems to very timing susceptible. What it is exactly the techs don't know, but since the last code update it appears the 1 minute fails (formerly some 2000 a day) have dropped by 90%. It's always possible that members have deselected the science to push the percent down, but as it is, it happens, even on my nearly always left alone client and often when other heavy sciences run concurrently, mostly with my client HFCC. Maybe 1 in 1 / 2 weeks and looking through see now 4 since March in the BOINCTasks log... one last week again.

Thanks Sekerob.
----------------------------------------As it happens the last 2 HPFP work units have executed perfectly so at least I can be reasonably sure that there is nothing wrong from my end. Might try installing the XMAPP application again to see if the HPFP wu's start to fail again. ![]() |
