My client ran great for about 3 weeks and then 4 times in the last week it stopped responding. Each time the system was not been in use for several hours but had been left on with the client running.
Each time my CPU usage shows anywhere from 0-30% usage on a 1 or 2 of the 4 cores but the BOINC client has a pop up box showing it needs to shutdown and once it is shutdown I am unable to restart the client until I reboot my system. Has anyone had this issue, and if so what did you do to resolve it? The event log shows: Faulting application name: boincmgr.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4bed9fd5 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5be02b Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000000000159ad Faulting process id: 0x754 Faulting application start time: 0x01cb1c049b335c14 Faulting application path: D:\Program Files\BOINC\boincmgr.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll I am running it on: 1.2KW Silverstone Zeus Modular Industrial PS ATI® Radeon™ HD 5970 2GB GDDR5 Asus Rampage III Extreme X58 Intel® Core® i7-930 2.8GHz Quad-core with Hyperthreading Liquid Cooling 6GB Kingston HyperX Triple-Channel DDR3-2000MHz 256GB Crucial® RealSSD™ C300 SATA 6G (w/TRIM) 1.0TB Western Digital Caviar Black SATA 6G 7200rpm 64MB Cache All-in-One Integrated USB 2.0 Flash Card Reader & Writer 24X Dual Layer DVD RW Drive w/ LightScribe Technology 7.1 Channel High Definition Surround Sound Supporting Dual On-board Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit |

Check your temperatures, you might be overheating.

Thanks, temps are good. It's liquid cooled and the temps have stayed fairly constant over the last four weeks (since I started running WCG.)

What a great system you have! If the temperature looks OK, you might try limiting your i-7 to only run 4 BOINC threads simultaneously. This would let you check for problems caused by heavy memory loads. I don't know what projects you are running.

Have you tested the memory? I got these kind of errors because of bad ram modules.

Lawrence,
Thanks, I will try that. X-Files, No I haven't but I will do that as soon as I can break myself away from Mass Effect (damn Steam and their summer sale, they've filled my new SSD with games that I am now forced to play. lol!) |

Guesswork, on that ntdll.dll line see http://www.instant-registry-fixes.org/trouble...eventing-ntdlldll-errors/ . Try the Windows repair function also in case there is some file damage. More here: http://tutorial.downloadatoz.com/How-to-resolve-ntdll-dll-error.html
