BOINC Client Stops Responding

My client ran great for about 3 weeks and then 4 times in the last week it stopped responding. Each time the system was not been in use for several hours but had been left on with the client running.

Each time my CPU usage shows anywhere from 0-30% usage on a 1 or 2 of the 4 cores but the BOINC client has a pop up box showing it needs to shutdown and once it is shutdown I am unable to restart the client until I reboot my system.

Has anyone had this issue, and if so what did you do to resolve it?

The event log shows:
Faulting application name: boincmgr.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4bed9fd5
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5be02b

Check your temperatures, you might be overheating.

Cheers

Re: BOINC Client Stops Responding

Thanks, temps are good. It's liquid cooled and the temps have stayed fairly constant over the last four weeks (since I started running WCG.)

What a great system you have! If the temperature looks OK, you might try limiting your i-7 to only run 4 BOINC threads simultaneously. This would let you check for problems caused by heavy memory loads. I don't know what projects you are running.

Re: BOINC Client Stops Responding

Have you tested the memory? I got these kind of errors because of bad ram modules.

Re: BOINC Client Stops Responding

Lawrence,

Thanks, I will try that.

X-Files,

No I haven't but I will do that as soon as I can break myself away from Mass Effect (damn Steam and their summer sale, they've filled my new SSD with games that I am now forced to play. lol!)

Re: BOINC Client Stops Responding

Guesswork, on that ntdll.dll line see http://www.instant-registry-fixes.org/trouble...eventing-ntdlldll-errors/ . Try the Windows repair function also in case there is some file damage. More here: http://tutorial.downloadatoz.com/How-to-resolve-ntdll-dll-error.html

Good luck,
