Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

Wow! that's much, maybe you meant 1.5 MBytes
You got me! Yes, I meant 1.5MB/s biggrin
First it is not artificial, it's based on real life measurements. What matters here is not how fast it could go, it is how fast it is really going.
My point is that it's not a measurement of MY equipment's performance. It's a measurement of the capabilities of the various project servers I've been communicating with. I don't want to be penalized for that. If CEP2 can communicate at 1.5MB/s, I can handle it. I just don't want to be excluded due to irrelevant statistics associated with my BOINC account.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

Agree fully. I also had problems with the 128 kbps threshold, which is totally irrelevant to the reality.

A question to WCG Tech guys - can we improve the relevancy of the network bandwidth measurements or cancel the "128 kbps filter" at all?

I believe it produces much more troubles and confusion than positive results. The point is to let people, not irrelevant statistics decide what projects to participate.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

Plz see post knreed above. I think we should let the current restrictive situation stay until windows launches... you know the work around now.. run a mix. People are people, so they will select CEP2 and then start blocking threads for the later on 70-80MB sized tasks from their low speed upload connections, which is a far bigger concern than the download which is often multiple. Mine is 20x officially, but only managed to get 38k upload yesterday. Just in upstart, yesterday with the limit of Linux there were 8,000 tasks validating. Multiply that with 10 when Windows comes on-line.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

In that I've run out of ideas. Officially it said on or before July 17, prefaced by a beta. Follow the beta front and you'll be getting more indication of what the progress of the test does that will set the stage for a conversion to production.

thanks for crunching at WCG

Hi Patric,

CPU: Intel Core i7-9700 @3.00GHz x 8

Go to My Grid --> Device Manager and click on the Profile for the device that you want to change (or create a new profile for that device). Choose the Custom option and choose the projects that you want devices in that profile to work on.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

This project is stated to have higher than normal memory requirements. Is the memory used throughout the wu's runtime or is it allocated/deallocated as needed? The principle reason I ask is I am trying to establish a sensible quota on quad cores with 2GB RAM. I have seen "waiting for memory" a few times with the heavier Rosetta wu's for example.
