Re: GPU and WCG

in my opinion this topic seems to be brought up every month or so... i still dont see these topics increasing the chance that they will get to this any time sooner.

yes it is on there list of things to work on but realize they have lots of things to work on and lots of new projects.

also remember that at WCG they dont tell us ahead of time that we are getting project y on this date or such

if you notice we know we will be getting some new projects soon.. but till we see them in beta we dont even know what they will be called or have any idea when they will release them.

last message thread i remember the staff at WCG stated that they were working on it but it wasn't in there top working on stack but it is being worked on slowly.

there are other projects on BOINC that use GPU so again if you have a gpu that you want to use i am sure there is a project or 2 that you can find that you can use your gpu on while you wait.

yes i would love them to have GPU processing and i also would love to get more than a small handfull of the worlds computers crunching for cures.

for all of BOINC there are 313,854 active users and 558,014 active computers. (97,793 users and 196,910 computers on WCG)

my goal personaly is to convince people who are not running any DC project to start running any computers i can convince people to run them.

sure if each one of us (97,000+ users ) can convince 1 more person to add one more computer or add one more computer ourselves while the people at WCG work on all issues we will in my opinion increase the speed of crunching here more than adding the GPU's

ok off my soapbox... happy crunching and i hope we can get cures for everything quickly

Hello WCG

Greetings:

fredski,
"Seems" you missed the smilies
Quite right. I gave your text a lot of weight, probably me being myopic there for a moment, leaving the smiles with little importance. But, trust me, I had those smiles in mind when I made my response; so much so that I would have answered differently otherwise. All is well though. Again, no harm no foul, but I'm calling WCG for "delay of offense" on their GPU offensive. smile

nasher,
...happy crunching and i hope we can get cures for everything quickly
Same thing here. smile

Good day
