I have switched all my devices to this project now. Time is right. Since months I neglected this project. The new chips are less error prone so it is time to try. Target is 10 years runtime. But first I will experiment Sekerob's Megaflush.
----------------------------------------The PV units will start to pile up starting tomorrow. Let's see what will be the peak. Then I will switch "brutally" to HCC. This should combine the release of the HPF2 PV's with the fast validating HCC WUs. I wonder what peak daily points value I will be able to reach. The target would be to pass the million points in a day. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Hypernova at May 27, 2010 8:35:42 AM] |

When you start to get a buildup of HCC PVs, you could then switch to FAAH. Those are quorum 1 (usually).

Hypernova, I bet you didn't realise crunching for science could be this much fun

Just to help you set up your 'mega flush' here is the average time between when the first result is sent for a workunit and the time that it is assimilated:
----------------------------------------
Note that since I'm talking about assimilation, it is very helpful for HPF2. For the other projects assimilation occurs a few minutes after validation. [Edit 1 times, last edit by knreed at May 25, 2010 6:08:31 PM] |

Excellent information knreed.
----------------------------------------This will allow me to better fine tune things. This also means that the switch must be made with FAAH and not HCC for maximum FLUSH. The drawback is that my points production will slowly fall to a minimum over the coming days. I must resist mental depression when looking at diminishing numbers with a whole bunch of devices running like crazy. ![]() ![]() |

If you keep your nerves and crunch that 9 day cache off-line, then before reconnecting do that switch to the ZR project, I forecast you could be doing 5 million plus. Simply multiply the average credit per hour per your My Grid page for your the target sciences and multiply with cores and hours per day.
----------------------------------------If you had the Large-BOINCTasks utility, you can monitor up to 300 crunchers from one place. Set it to filter [condense] the Upload results and it will show the total days/hours completed on the go so the saliva will start running in abundance as the numbers grow bigger. Note that the uploads per result are rather sizeable, so be patient and sometimes there will be upload back-offs due grid load and do set the caches back to normal before connecting again else you end up with another X days worth of cache. The keeper. PS: Don't know which client you run, but until very recent versions the accidental hit on that Project Update button will open the line for 5 minutes and flush whatever there is complete. It does without sharing your feelings :D

This experience is turning to disaster. I am piling now more then 700 errors and counting fast. In fact these are all the same across all my devices except MARS, which has no errors at all.
----------------------------------------The error is the same for all devices (950, 980X) with crunching time 0.0. Due to this the machines will reach very quickly I suppose the WU limit per core per day. Certain devices are not receiveing WU's anymore. The error is: Result Name: nk409_ 00057_ 2-- <core_client_version>6.10.18</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> CreateProcess() failed - Acc refus (0x5) </message> ]]> All errors are identical. Now why MARS has no problem. MARS is a 980X machine identical to all others but is the only one equipped with superfast DDR3 Corsair Extreme (same for the cost) memory at 2000 MHZ with CL7 timings. Can Memory be an issue in those errors. Sek any ideas. Anyway I have to stop the experiment for the time being. ![]() |

In trying to get all of my projects up to 5 years, I switched to a combination of HCMD and HPF2. Over the last week or so, I've only seen a handful of errors on HPF2.
----------------------------------------Two days ago, I upgraded all but one machine to the latest BOINC recommended version (6.10.56) and have yet to see an error on the new version. It might be worth a try to upgrade a planet or two and give it a test. |
