Hi
----------------------------------------I upgraded my laptop to Kubuntu Lucid on last week. Today I noticed problems with BOINC. I noticed that BOINC was stopped and I was sure that is was starting automatically with system. After little investigation I found that if I connect to BOINC Client with this machines BOINC manager and then close manager, BOINC Client will stop immediately withmessage: "Exit requested by user" After I restarted BOINC with sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client restart calculation restarted and wen't well until next manager exit. I'm not runnig my X.org system with root permissions. BOINC is installed from Ubuntu packages. BOINC Client version is 6.10.17+dfsg-3ubuntu1 I haven't ever heard this kind of problem under Linux. With Windows BOINC I've heard that BOINC Manager should be running even if BOINC is installed as service. Please, could someone tell me how to fix this problem under Linux? Yes,
----------------------------------------Used the red X left top to close the BOINC manager without stopping the BOINC daemon or in BOINC Manager use File > Close Window Exit is really Exit, under Windows too if there is permission. This goes without warning unfortunately.

OK,
----------------------------------------So, if you go to the BOINC Manager Advanced menu > Options > General tab there is a field Enable Manager exit dialog.. If it's ticked, untick and OK. Then again tick and OK. Afterwards you get offered on doing the File > Exit a screen to ask if you're sure with a Remember this decision. If you don't tick that when you want to really exit, next time you will be asked again. So, Close exits the BOINC Manager only, Exit, ends the daemon service too. hope this helps, and if it does, please edit your opening post and insert [RESOLVED] in title.

I closed manager from that cross. It seems that it menas same as File->Exit as it should be in every program. I think this varies between different versions of BOINC manager.

I made that change to settings and now it shows warning with File->Exit. Checkbox on the window corner shuts manager but not BOINC client now.
