I recently downloaded/installed the current version of Boincmgr (6.2.28) on my Windows 7 system at work. It initially had trouble re-connecting to the localhost. If it can't connect to the local host, it will never resume it's work. I'm not certain how, but I managed to get it straightened out. However, now my home system (also a Win7 box) is exhibiting the same issue after upgrading to 6.2.28. I've not managed to get it rolling again. Has anyone else encountered this problem before or know how to resolve it? Thanks.

Reasons for this problem can be split into two main categories:
----------------------------------------1. the BOINC client is running but BOINCMgr is not able to communicate with it 2. the BOINC client is not running and then BOINCMgr has nothing to talk to. Could you please check with Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Escape) if you have a process named BOINC and if you have processes named WCG--something--. Make sure that you are seeing all processes and not only yours. Also please tell us if you have installed in protected mode (aka Service mode) or under a specific user name. Of course if you are in situation 1 above the client is running and most probably some WCG application(s) too. You are only unable to see what it does and/or to manage it. Read you later. Jean. |

Hey, thanks for writing back. I'd already corrected the problem by the time I saw your post, but for completeness; all I had running was the boincmgr process - no boinc (client) nor the actual application processes. I uninstalled/re-installed, and all was well. Thanks again.
