Testing Client Software Supporting Windows 7 and multi-core (i7 920) processors

Hi. Any way I can be involved in beta testing software that supports Windows 7 64-bit and multiple core processors (i7 920)? I would like to help if possible.

Thanks,

Steve

All WCG projects run happily on W7 32 and 64 bit, the last bug on HPF2 also beta field tested few weeks ago, but thanks for offering. Sign up to the program and if work is there when the client is requesting it will come, 1 per core.

Sek-

Are you saying on HPF2 that the problems creating errors are over?

Thanks.

1. It's a windows problem. Not been able to replicate on Linux.

2. Yes the problem will be over for more than 90% when the beta tested app is moved into production. Suppose there will be some form of announcement when that happens, or another test, but 57 fails of that type on 10,600 tested results is not material.

The results from the HPF2 beta test have not been approved yet by the researchers. They are still doing post processing work on them to make sure things are correct. We will let you know if/when it gets promoted to production.

grog1, The Beta testing here is on new science applications. All OS types are welcome to join. Work units are not consistent. As you can see by the last chart in this link created by Sek. There are periods of no work for Beta.

Their first post... I would just about wager they were referring to a 64-bit version of BOINC itself (as available on Berkeley's download page), with the WCG 'skin' (like the 6.2.28 version available on the DOWNLOAD tab here)... not the WCG-specific task applications that run in BOINC.

For most people that difference is subtle upon initial exposure to the projects that employ the BOINC framework.
