Use of proxy server

I have BOINC running on my work laptop and when at work I have to go trough a proxy server. No problem there.
But every time when I'm at home I have to turn off the http proxy and turn it on when I'm back at work.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was possible to have the http proxy 'ticked' but that BOINC, after failing to find the proxy server, goes automatically for a direct connect?
It should leave the http proxy 'ticked' so, when I'm back at work it will be happy right away :-)

Cheers,
Frits.

Re: Use of proxy server

Hi,

You could decide to set your work cache to for instance 1 day and only connect when at home and set a connect schedule for most frequent times you're at home. That way you're avoiding using your company's network too for data exchange, should that not have been approved ;O

e.g.

- Set in Local prefs the Network from 20:00 to 05:00 (yes that setting works)
- Activity Menu setting to Network activity based on preferences

Automatic detection of direct or proxy presence... think there was more automation work in the 6.10 client, not yet ready for the big time, given WCG is not thinking so i.e. has NOT endorsed the release, but you could try 6.10.43. At any rate I've set it to proxy some time ago, but it says there is no proxy and happily connects, with a mere warning.
