Here are some changes that comming up:
----------------------------------------NOTE: I numbered them so if you wanted to make a remark about any of them you could use the number instead of copy&paste. I think my favorite will be number 10. If I am reading this right you will be able to attach projects and set them to 0 resource share!! Version 6.10.37 released: 11 Mar 2010 1. Fixes: Properly display project descriptions on Windows XP machines in the attach to project wizard. Version 6.10.19 - 6.10.36 released: 1 Mar 2010 2. New: Updated localization files 3. New: Added accessibility support for advanced view (Mac) 4. New: Added support for parsing username and password information from environment variables 5. New: Added ability to ignore specific GPU cards through the use of ignore device through the use of a configuration file option 6. New: Added ability to suspend BOINC's use of GPUs when certain applications are run through the use of a configuration file option 7. New: Allow new screen saver options to be configured via the OS specific configuration screen 8. New: Snooze GPU option off of the system tray menu 9. New: Adjust GPU activity settings via the advanced view activity menu 10. New: Added ability for a project to be specified as a "Backup Project" by setting its resource share to 0 11. New: Suspend computation of BOINC applications if CPU usage from non-BOINC applications exceeds a volunteer defined value (Defaults to 25%) 12. New: Support detecting SSE2, SSE3, and other forms of advanced instruction sets for older Windows machines (Windows) 13. Fix: Numerous CPU/GPU scheduling fixes 14. Fix: Numerous work-fetch fixes 15. Fix: Mac Installer for non-admin installs 16. Fix: Recover from crashes in Nvidia and ATI GPU functions (Linux, Mac) 17. Fix: Reap child processes spawned from a wrapper on Posix systems (Linix, Mac) 18. Fix: If a project supports ATI or Nvidia projects, display their icons in the project list 19. Fix: Show most commonly used preferences in use during startup via messages. I been told by the folks on the BOINC board that each project would have to adjust their code in order to use number 10 to allow a 0 to be entered. Problem I see is that you may have a project (like WCG) on stand by on one PC but may want it run at 100% or 50% on another. If you are already using each location (Home, Work & School) you could have a problem. ![]() |

TrustedDragon, Recommended versions 6.10.36, 37, 38 were WITHDRAWN, WCG continuing to hold off to saying anything on 6.10. It's plainly not ready for stable, general set and forget production.
----------------------------------------On your #10, those intimate with WCG will be able to tell you that essentially there is no profile limit on WCG, but it's unsupported, allowing the ability to effectively have a profile e.g. per science. The wider BOINC world does not know these profiles, one device can only be associated with one at the time... those 4, not 3, since Default itself is also a profile one can use (confirmed that on CPDN as still the case) Processor usage Default Home School Work That's for you maybe that one extra you needed :D
WCG

I am currently running 6.10.43 on 1 PC and so far it has NOT had a problem. The other PC's are running the WCG_BOINC or the newest BOINC. ![]() |
