Seems I get 1-2 of these a week, what bothers me is that 20-60% go "no reply" to me that means new people that decide not to continue for what ever reason. revaladates are marked "inconclusive" and not sent until the inital is returned. the pv status are new/unproven hosts that have a 2nd wu sent right behind the initial.
----------------------------------------just maybe, imho, we should be asking why these "noobs" are dropping out so fast and not why it takes an extra day or two to get my points. Edit: never had a problem getting points, given time, they have ALWAYS come [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 27, 2010 5:26:22 AM] |

rilian, to add: Not a single second is taken out but a little bandwidth because the result that the Reliable device completes with the unreliable device is used as any quorum. Then if that temporary device had not been there another permanently contributing device that needed re-verification would have been used, so the net is still: Thank you for being a cameo wingman for a number of results and helping to complete X quorums.

Yes... and it's not tracked by timestamp or something along these lines. Look for posts by knreed or nelsoc for the old answer where we also wanted to have tick marks or color codes to see which results validated today. Ok, this one for knreed and team to consider. Add a 1 character field to the Result Status (RS) page that can store the day of the week, e.g. Monday=1 Tuesday =2 etc. When a task is validated, write the day of week number in that field. Then add a drop-down filter to the RS page to add a day of week filter. No need to overwrite later or clear or whatever. Except for the specials, lingering on the RS page, normally the clearance is about 4 days tops, so when next week arrives, all results of previous week same-day have for the furthest majority, if not all gone. So, when filtering tomorrow or today on weekday 4, only the current validations would show. Personally just having that 1 character field will allow most to reconstruct their validations for the day much easier. This instead of color coding would also work to make it useful for the visually impaired. Alternate: Add 7 validation names to the existing filter, replacing Valid: Call them Valid-1 through Valid-7 again to indicate the day of the week. And of course, me and a few more would like a NOT filter... for instance do not show Server Aborts or In Progress, but all other conditions. Is this executable without putting load on the scheduler with the ever increasing number of results computed each day? Small farm and hex-core owners will be at your feet, if not already :D

Sekerob - we need to get caught up with BOINC first then we will look at a validation timestamp field on the result table.

rilian, to add: Not a single second is taken out but a little bandwidth because the result that the Reliable device completes with the unreliable device is used as any quorum. yes, i've already figured that i just thought that 2 unreliable devices give 1 reliable result (if they are ok, of course. if they are not ok, then just add one reliable to quorum) and that would not distract reliable machines from doing the good work |

The joke has exhausted itself. Let it be WCG's worry. Your reliable devices will be tested once or several times in X number of results too, and then will have to wait on the wingman like anybody else.
----------------------------------------edit: Case in point, my reliable device that gets repair work and A-Type, was just slapped with 2 inconclusives HFCC_ s2_ 01147413_ s2_ 0000_ 0-- 1112084 Inconclusive 1-4-10 05:29:44 2-4-10 16:06:33 9.10 166.4 / 0.0 HFCC_ s2_ 01147625_ s2_ 0000_ 0-- 1112084 Inconclusive 1-4-10 05:29:44 2-4-10 16:06:33 3.87 70.7 / 0.0 The previous 2 inconclusives for that machine were paired with a devices taking almost 4 days to return the results, which let's me think they were themselves not in the <2 days return class. C'est la vie... ~20% is still quorum 2 to maintain the highest level of confidence for the scientists.
