Re: HCC Program updated to 6.08

Oh, and thank you WCG for sending me quad 10 repair jobs v 6.08 against No Reply jobs and several Detached of version 6.06. The previous few marked my claim a low-lier, giving nearly double the credit asked for, since the wingman took twice the time for the old version. Will be done in the next 6 hours, provided those No Replies do not report in causing the queued jobs to be Server Aborted :D

Progressed to 2.77 H/J down from 5.46 or now doing 197% percent of the work as before in the same amount of time and still working off the last of the old version.

Re: HCC Program updated to 6.08

I just noticed quite a change since the upgrade to HCC. I have identically configured 3.4gz P4 HT machines. Two of them are on Windows XP and one is on Linux Mint. Prior to the upgrade the amount of time to complete an HCC unit was similar. Now the Windows machines take about 5 hours to complete a unit while the Linux machine takes an average of 3 hours. I do not know what they did, but it appears to have made the Linux configuration much more efficient for this application than any other. Very interesting.

Cheers

I have found that it was worthwhile to move my Linux machines completely over the HCC.

The points appear to be about the same but it gets a lot more work done.

Whoever did the optimization must have been using Linux.

Re: HCC Program updated to 6.08

Well, I guess that really was a great improvement.
Let me share my first impressions about it.

Test machine:
Running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bits, processor Intel Quad Extreme QX9770 clock 3.2 GHZ, RAM 4 GB, use BOINC agent release 6.2.28 at same time that some other sciences applications running 24/7 (is a special lab machine used in my researches work).

The average time of this machine before the improvement ever was about 3.2 horus per work unit of HCC. Sometimes a little bit less/more.

Now, the average time was speed up a lot, with results finished in a range between 1.72-1.86 hours. Take a look at the first results from my test:

Result Name Device Name Status Sent Time Time Due /
Return Time CPU Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit

Re: HCC Program updated to 6.08

The Performance Chart is showing an almost leveling for the average WU runtime but not quite... It's now 2.58 hours project average today versus 5.46 hours before the revision, as in doing 2.12 times as much work in the same amount of time.

applause
