You wont find 6.10.36. It's been retracted by the developers (.37 and .38 too), so plz do go for 6.10.21

Is 6.10.21 stable or is it buggy?

If you are just looking for a stable version of the software, I would recommend getting it on the WCG download page
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do# Looks like the current version there is 6.2.18 This page will always have the latest version that is stable and tested by WCG, and one which can be supported easier by the community. Newer versions than what is listed really should only be reserved for those that are testing the software, have the need because of another BOINC project, or require a feature in the newer software. I am currently running versions as old as 5.10.45 on my hosts, and do not typically upgrade a host unless it is necessary to resolve problems or to crunch new projects. If you want the least hassle, and the most stable version, just get it from this site. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 27, 2010 8:41:12 AM] |

Steven, trouble is that Snow Leopard requires a stable 6.10.xx version to be able to install and contribute. Think ezmac mentioned he had that in another thread he posted.
----------------------------------------ezmac, go via the Start Here FAQ index, link in my signature, and go to the client version topic. From there it leads to the BOINC/Berkeley official download page.

Ahh, I was not aware of that Sekerob, thanks for the info. Will try to keep that in mind, Have not run anything newer than 6.10.18 on the Mac side of things, and have not even considered Snow Leopard. I've seen the other threads now, was not aware of the problems, Guess I should have read them first ;)

6.10.21 has ran solid so far on my borged Macbook running Snow Leopard. It has turned in 42 results so far with no errors or troubles on WCG and also has been running Quake Catcher Network with no troubles. It has only been crunching for like 2 weeks or so.

If it helps, they just released the newest version and it also seems to be running fine on my borged Macbook.

Hi all, I started on BOINC and the community grid a few days back. However, the clients that I install (tested two versions) are incredible slow (the GUI, but tasks do run fine) on my machine. I am on OSX 10.4.11. I used the recommended (6.10.18) BOINC manager downloaded at worldcommunity.org, which was really slow, and also version 6.10.51 from the berkeley page. This one is equally slow. I wonder if anybody else has reported something similar.
Thanks. |

Hello cmlarota ,
BOINC just starts application programs, interrupts them when certain events happen, and transmits result files back. Reaally slow is still probably less than 15 seconds per program. So tell us about your application programs and CPU settings. What is a slow task in your opinion? Lawrence |
