Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

As far as I understand it, the first workunit picked up dictates for which platform the other copies are.

Eg. if I pick up a workunit on a Windows machine, the other copy of that work unit goes to another Windows machine. If I pick up the first copy of a work unit on a Mac, the copy of that work unit goes to a Mac as well.

It's not a matter of a % assigned to Windows, a % assigned to Linux etc.

You are correct. No workunit is assigned to a platform. It only becomes assigned to a platform after the first copy is sent (then the other copy needs to go to the same platform).

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

When trying to get more I got the following info:
...
(there was work but it was committed to other platforms )
...
I'm running Windozes so is there plenty of work for example for linux ?!
No, I have had it much under Linux too. I think that the Mac machines have sucked everything. biggrin

No, I'm joking.
I think we get it more often because loading these WUs seems to be slower than for other projects. I don't know if it is intentional for giving chances to more people (as somebody wondered earlier), or if the big 15 MB file distributed with type C WUs is simply making this stage of the process slower.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

DDDT2 tasks pushed up the short queues:
2 Valid, 35 PV, about 30 running. Most of my tasks will be back by tomorrow.
- 4 Valid, 55 PV, about 30 running - most completed in <1h core time.
- 8 Valid, 76 PV, about 30 running
- 64 Valid, 139 PV, some still running, some queued because subsequent tasks from other project downloaded later with shorter deadlines! d oh

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

It seems the refreshing DDDT2 rain has stopped (I've had no new jobs in the last 3 hours). Hopefully we'll have a long run soon.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

yes i noticed i have a little sprinkle of DDDT2's myself but not enough to make a bronze badge yet... happily crunching them mind you.

i know they said this project would have lots of slow times and pauses but honestly to me its geting frustrating that i dont at least have a badge yet for this project.

Hang in there Nasher, it took me an awfull long time to get past 5 days. And all of the sudden, the previous flood they started showing up in larger quantities. Eventually, you'll get as soaked as I was in this short rain fall. biggrin

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

The project is only 0.67% complete!
With sporadic releases and lots of task grabbing going on most people are getting less than they would otherwise. If & when there are plenty of tasks for days at a time then things will normalise somewhat.
If you have crunched a couple of days already then you might expect to multiply that by 100, by the time the project finishes. My 37days worth could become 3700 (about 10years). Blue is only 2years and not everyone will be targeting high badges!

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

quick update.

ts05 - We have 1000 work units so far but are going to release only 50 into the wild today per request from the researchers. They want to make sure before the work units are good before we release the rest. So the forecast on these is, 50 today, then next monday we'll release the 950 + the other 750 we're expecting from them.

ts06 - This is a small batch but we have the type C work units and are building them now, should be released later this evening.

Thanks Uplinger for the brief update - very much appreciated (along with the short shower we had earlier in the day)

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

I finally got a DDDT2 WU -- this is my second one -- my first one was the night they first came out with DDDT2.

This one was a type C. I have only DDDT2 selected, but I also have selected for other work if this project is not available.
