This WU was quorum 2; rep 2. All 7 of us that tried it ended in error.
erlc_d164_pe0000_4 was the copy I had.
Result Name: erlc_ d164_ pe0000_ 4-- <core_client_version>6.2.28</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> - exit code 1282 (0x502) </message> <stderr_txt> INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning. </stderr_txt> ]]>
I would post stderrdae.txt but all it says is: Another instance of BOINC is running So, that's not very helpful. ![]() |

Well, with 7 errors the distribution automatically stops and all dying prematurely is no hinting at a science app problem.
----------------------------------------This error was lastly seen with the CEP1 project which had quite a bit more information than this DDDT2 log. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead,25203_offset,0#224482 Anyway, this is tech time. Good here is that the new [silent] credit rule kicked in. If an science crashes by no fault of the client, the credit is given for time invested... but that's not why we do it ![]()

same problem here. some work units exit with a computation error. it seems that this happens right when the wu enters the dynamic phase (i think it was called like this somewhere here) - i mean, when the % counter starts. i didn't have this problem with the charmm 6.12 application. only with the current app: charmm 6.17 windows/intelx68 (which recently was in beta-phase). maybe this helps somehow.

Generally when we see work units exit quickly within the run (herna you were correct in the dynamics loop) it is due to the system having total energy that is not possible and outside the threshold that the researchers consider acceptable. So this in my terms is considered a positive negative. Meaning the target/ligand combo is not a good combination and there is no reason to wet lab the result. Wet lab is the expensive part of the project. Where the researchers have to order compounds that match what was calculated on World Community Grid.
We will see a handful of work units that have this issue for each target. Hope this helps, -Uplinger |

If this is correct operation of the code, then shouldn't that be reported in the results to te researchers and the job exit normally rather than error out and raise alarm bells with us?

The reason for which the results exits is going to be captured in the current 6.17 version of the science application. Currently it is a blind error that is reported for the members to see in the stderr. But unfortunately the error is the way the science application is designed.
